@DJ

I try to go back to 422 to completly clean the battery cal data

now with 442: charging time to 100% 37 minutes, discharging time using es explorer 38 minutes

restoring 442 keeps some parameters from precedent rom

I try 3 battery calibration apk no change

thx

Don't try to go back to JB, unless you're absolutely sure it will work. Someone said before it's a risky process, and could brick your tablet. True or not, not sure, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I also have some strange issues with the battery (slow charging, fast discharging, even in stand-by), so I've been wondering is it due to KitKit or tablet/battery/whatever? My tablet arrived this week, so I don't know if it's normal, or does it have to settle down (now I had 3-4 complete charge cycles), or is it a hardware malfunction? DJ mentioned he lost 6% in 14 hours in stand-by on the same OC kernel, so I don't know why does mine behave so differently. Do I have to recalibrate the battery? Guess I'll have to install some battery apps and investigate the whole thing more thoroughly. Maybe some system app drains the battery, and maybe it wakes the tablet from deep sleep more than it should... Who knows...

btw, how much mAh is the battery capacity? I ask this for the third time, and no one is noticing it?

@Burs

I tried 422 with rockchip batch 1.5 1.6 1.7 with no success "error dowload firmware"

I re install 442 fortunately with suuccess

I think there is perhaps a "memory battery defect" in the battery like pc one

now 2 days in standby with battery level still at 100%

regards

Well that's even more weirder. Mine goes down like 1,5% per hour, and when it reaches 15%, it goes like few percent per minute. Last time I've run it at 0% for a few minutes, and it didn't shutdown, so that's why I suspect that battery recalibration might be needed (maybe the real percentage is at 20%?). I'll have to take a look at it more closely when I find some time.

Yes I've strange battery calibration too since 2.06

It's better on this 4.4.2 (2.08)

I let the Cube on charge 6h (even if tablet says "charged" far before) before installing the last rom...

Maybe you can try this : full charge and reinstalling the rom? I don't if it will work

Have switched from 2.06 to this KK ROM few days ago. Multitasking seems to be a tad better now. Can't say the same for 2D UI performance. It's just too slow, any scrolling or transitioning is painfully inadequate. Hopefully they'll manage to get it back to JB levels, at minimum. 720p+ MKV video playback is same-ish as before, lacks the smoothness. Can't speak for 3D as the only title I use (Real Racing 3) crashes beforereaching the menu. I'd say the backlight level can't be set as low as before.

Borderline: for the last week or so I've had an opportunity to try a Windows 8.1 Intel BayTrail Atom 3740 QuadCore tablet. What a difference! It's fast, unbelievably fast, usable and stable, frustration free, great experience overall. The thing boots in 6s or less from complete power-off. Every single app tried just rocks in terms of performance. Everything is responsive as it should. No need to wait indefinite time for virtual keyboard to come up when I need it, it's just instantly here. I miss some favourite Android apps or alternatives and also Market offerings in general are poor compared to Google Play. Personally tend to prefer Cube's AHVA screen over to IPS. Honestly, the OS and platform alone is years ahead of laggy, sluggish, under performing Android. Later this year we will get a chance to run Android on this x86 HW (even dual-boot with Win81) and make a direct comparison. Hint: stay away from BayTrail Win81 tablets if you can, it may easily ruin Android for you. ;)

I've flashed CWM, and everything seems ok (apart from silly stock recovery and root questions before every reboot from CWM). I need it mostly for backup/restore functionality, so it doesn't matter if upgrading from zip archives is a bit flakey for the time beeing. But anyway, I believe DJ can fix that :)

So all good for now (some battery issues, but who doesn't have issues with his Cube is a liar!), and it's like my dream came true: currently running custom overclocked KitKat with root and cwm. Wow! Thank you DJ!

btw, for all those who find stock launcher "laggy" (micro-stuttering), I recommend one of these 3 custom launchers, since they are super-fluid and much more attractive than the stock one. Try it, you won't regret it.
Next Launcher 3D / Nova Launcher / SPB Shell 3D

to Burs:

I think the capacity is 7600 mAh but i am not completely sure.

To the standby battery drain issue:

Do you remember when using the 422 ROM there was the app TelephonyProvider.apk running all the time cunsuming energy.

In the arctablet tool there was the function to delete it. In this new 442 ROM the App is back again of course!

Trying do delete it with the arctablet tool failed in this ROM due to some error..
Deleting it with a root explorer app from /system/apps helped increasing my standby time again :)

By the way, i flashed this rom with a 100% percent charged battery in 422 and after the first start off 442 about 5 minutes later it showed 71% so there must be some calibration error.

Ps.: Did you see the point "Help making this Software better by sending usage information to the delevopers" in Options somewhere is checked? is this a function of the Cube own beta version or is this a general thing from google for its KitKat Roms?

Kind regards! Max

I was only a few hours on 4.2.2 before I flashed 4.4.2 :) But I remember I've been reading about it, and that it can help. I will surely give it a try. Can it also be freezed with Titanium Backup, so I don't have to install Root Explorer?

I don't remember. I always turn off such things because I don't trust what is sent out from my tablet. Call me paranoid, but I would like to help them only if I see that my personal informations is not shared with them (like seeing the log file in message body before it is sent).

I think the kernel is giving out wrong information about the state of the battery. I don't think anyone can rely on anything that is being said about the battery status. Something is clearly broken in the kernel - but I'm sure they will fix it in due course.

With regard to CWM flakiness when upgrading from zip archives, I have found the problem. For some reason it doesn't like being told to display the recovery log - which suggests that it isn't quite there yet. I have simply removed that instruction from my upgrader scripts, and now everything runs without hiccup.

So, it really could be the case that battery has still plenty of juice, although the battery percentage indicator shows otherwise? Next time when I reach 0%, I will let it run until it automaticaly shuts down. Maybe that teaches it that it can run longer, and in a sense, recalibrate itself somehow? Meanwhile, I got rid of TelephonyProvider.apk, and will see how it behaves now.

Interesting. Would that also interfere while displaying backup/restore logs? I guess yes. Can that somehow be turned off on a CWM level? Have you maybe tried to do a backup or restore?

I just noticed that in "Google now" Location refuses to turn on! The message I get "google now is turned off for your domain" " If you are seing this message, you are using google apps for bussiness, and your system administrator has turned off google now for your organization... WTF is that? I downloaded everything through the rom or google play.  I tried changing it in settings but its a no go. any ideas?

It was discussed on this page before, but I didn't quite get it...?

Yeah, I read that but could not understand the comment. I did read some reviews about the app in the store that expresses many complaints with the app. I'll keep looking into it see what else I find. I have to remember that we are in an unfinished filmware state and not everything is going to be perfect yet.

I have installed an entire ROM (my first mod of Kasty 4.4.2 KitKat) using this CWM Recovery, and I am happy to report that it all installed perfectly. So it seems that the CWM Recovery is up to the most complex tasks (my mod includes a backup of my entire /data/app directory - all 290MB of it).
