Overclocked kernel attached - plus a screenshot of RKAndroidTool running.

How to install the overclocked kernel without CWM (do this entirely at your own risk!);

0. Unzip the zip file containing the overclocked kernel.

1. Download RKAndroidTool from here: http://www.freaktab.com/showthread.php?7353-RKAndroid-Tool-1-37-loader-1-24-Translation-fix

2. Install RKAndroidTool

3. Connect USB cable to the tablet, and reboot the tablet to the bootloader

4. Run RKAndroidTool (it should be showing that it has found the RKAndroid rock usb loader (or something similar - meaning it has found your tablet) - if it doesn't, then you have to reboot the router to bootloader again, until it has found the tablet)

5. Untick every box apart from "kernel" (note: is absolutely crucial that only the kernel checkbox is ticked) - see the screenshotRKAndroidTool.jpgImage Enlarger

6. Click on the cell just to the right of "ROMkernel.img"; this will launch a "File Open" dialog

7. Navigate to where you have extracted the overclocked kernel image image, and select the .img file (note: NOT the zip file itself).

8. Click on "Flash ROM" (this will flash the kernel image that you selected and reboot the tablet)

9. Wait for the tablet to reboot, and hope for the best.

As usual, ALL DISCLAIMERS APPLY.

I'm at the same step right now this second lol
Just wanted to check if there's new replies before I flash, and here you are :)
You must load "Config MK908.cfg" file from RKAndroid folder and then continue with the 5th step.
So, who's going first? :)

Right click on the blank space inside RKAndroid and choose "Load Config" option.
Mine flashed just fine. AnTuTu jumped from ~18,300 to ~19,550 (7%, better than nothing).
I'll check today/tomorrow how the battery drainage goes...
EDIT: I've run AnTuTu for the second time and I got a shutdown somewhere in the middle of the test http://www.arctablet.com/blog/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif
@DarthJabba: can you also upload the original KitKat kernel just in case that happens more often? Thanks.
EDIT2: third and forth time, AnTuTu goes without problems. Maybe it was due to some other things, maybe I needed a restart after the first bootup with the new kernel?

Is it specially prepared kernel for Kit Kat? Can I use other overclocked kernels prepared for 4.2.2 by extracting kernel.img from zip file and load it thru RKAndroidTool?

Yes, but those micro-stutterings are present in the stock rom too, so nothing to do with this custom rom or custom OC kernel. It's all about the testing now. And when final version come out, I hope the homescreen will be more fluid too. But to me it's of more importance that the rom is responsive and snappier than before.

I personaly don't recommend that (even if it could work). I wouldn't dare to do that even in my sleep.

I had the same problem. Tried it three times, the second was a scary experience but i recovered. Nothing on the screen the third time.

Oops never mind, just read the follow-ups, silly me. will try that again when I get home later today.

Oh additionally I wanted to add, after the second scarry attempt, were I thought I had bricked my Cube, I reflashed the rom for a third time and lo and behold my camera is now active on both sides! So if you are having trouble perhaps re-flasing the rom again may work, give the tablet a few mins in between to let it settle as someone suggested in another post!

@AndrzejM123 - this is an overclocked version of the stock KitKat kernel from the Kasty 4.4.2 ROM. Don't try it with any kernel from 4.2.x - it won't work (although Oma seems to have got a KitKat ROM working with a Jelly Bean kernel and the old bootloader - but that is for different tablets - see http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?author=3)

@Burs - the stock kernel is attached.
