Could somebody mirror this last one to Mega or similar? I want to try it but it's downloading at 3 Kb/s from the chinese site... Thanks!
I'll upload it to MediaFire. Should be up in an hour or so...

Just finished flashing.
First impressions:
- Brightness problem of former 4.4.2 roms is fixed. Control is no longer reversed and the display is not trying to burn your eyes at lowest setting in dark environment. Brilliant.
- Graphics drawing & scrolling is smoother again (read: similar to 4.2.2). It doesn't give the "where the heck is my GPU acceleration" feel like former 4.4.2 roms. Night and day difference, perfect!
Build number is v3.00 20140218
Kernel is 3.0.36+ #352 from Feb 18 2014
I like it so far, tablet becomes usable again. Wish I could post more information but it's too early.
Edit: Default rom language is Chinese as usual. Virtual keyboard is included and working this time. Rom is not rooted (sucks). Hopefully Admin will be kind enough to prepare a Kasty rom based on this

Thanks for that. That was my biggest issue on previous betas. So there's no need for flashing OC'ed kernel? Except for achieving better performance in more demanding apps/games...

Yeah, root+cwm+english-bloat apps would be preferable...
EDIT: please if someone can tell how the battery drain behaves in both stand-by and while working on it.

Why can't I edit my previous post at the top of this page?!
Here's the MediaFire link for beta3:
https://www.mediafire.com/?w18oyc6cd1fue4u
Enjoy!
EDIT: the file is in 7Zip format because of my slow upload speed, so it's somewhat lighter too. You'll have to extract it using either 7Zip or WinRar archiver. Shouldn't be any problems, but thought I should mention that as well.

This ROM is certainly a little bit more than a remix with some settings changed. Kernel compilation time is different.
I also can confirm that smoothness is greatly improved... not sure if it is up to 4.2.2 levels but it is much, much improved compared with the first Kit Kat beta. I just tried default Launcher (Launcher3). I will try Nova tomorrow...
ROM feels responsive, smoothness on launcher certainly helps this feeling...
Some bugs are fixed, like brightness, Launcher crashing while trying to set wall paper...
I will install some apps and test stand by battery consumption overnight (it is night here in Belgium...)... let's see...
Not official but at forst sight still much better than the first Kit Kat beta we got

Two things:
1. The kernel works with the previous Kasty release, and overclocks just as well.
2. I have produced a DarthJabba CWM package for it, and I have tried to root it. However, I don't yet have the courage to try my new masterpiece, because it is my first attempt to work straight from the stock ROM ...

Count me in
What could go wrong if I make CWM backup before flashing it? Maybe something I'm not aware of...?
Can you upload it somewhere, and attach a changelog to it (OC frequencies, space for apps, default/chinese apps added/removed, etc)? And what do you mean by "tried to root it"? Did it failed, or does it have to be flashed first to be confirmed?
If there is users interest (and if it helps DarthJabba) I don't mind building a rooted Kasty firmware based on that new U30GT 2 V3.0 201... 4.4系统.rar update, but I'd expect some feedback from testers on the stock firmware making sure it's worth the work.
Cheers.
