ClockworkMod (CWM) Recovery easy install for RK3066 and RK3188 -- TWRP/CWM Flash-Tool and root for RK3288
Please donate to support OMA and CrewRKTablets firmware work, thank you !

Why would you want to do that? Give these guys some credit
Don't know the answer though. Initial static Chinese logo can be replaced by neutral "Welcome" one by flashing modded kernel (like RUS/UKR #38 OC). I believe animated Chinese Cube logo can be changed as well considering there are tools and alternative boot animations around. Haven't done that myself.

Have installed this ROM mod and Arctools CWM, no major issues here so far. Well except the H264 MKV video playback is still jerky.
Is this likely to be fixed do we know or are there any workarounds? I find it hard to believe the hardware isn't up to scratch, it must be a software/config issue.

I tend to believe it's a fixable software bug. Whether Cube manage to fix it in their roms or kernel is another story. I hope so, one day...
Someone posted a possible workaround #1. It's more like proof that tablet is capable of achieving smooth H264 MKV video playback than usable solution. Enable the HDMI port and connect a HDMI device. Video should be smooth on tablet screen but jerky on a HDMI screen. As soon as HDMI is disconnected, video becomes jerky on tablet screen as usual. I haven't had an opportunity to test this.
I've read a possible workaround #2 elsewhere. Enable multi-window feature. Play video in a window then manually strech it to full screen. Have tried this shortly on 2.06. Didn't work for me. Even though video seemed rather smooth in small window it became jerky when upsized. No joy.

Does it smooth out when connecting an HDMI cable? Could you just cut the end off an old HDMI cable and plug it in or does it only smooth out when it detects it's connected to a TV/screen at the other end?
I'll try the multi-window thing tonight. Surely Cube must be aware of the issue, its one of the main reasons I bought the tablet and I can imagine it was for other people, having a 1920x1200 size screen and not having faultless HD playback on it is a bit weak imo. It's not unwatchable by any stretch of the imagination but its not great really!

The new rom works fine but i can't apreciate big differences between the last 2.06 beta version. Antutu benchmarck gives me 18.109 score. The wifi improves the signal little bit, bluetooh speakers are working perfectly but sometimes I am having random restarts with this new rom, ¿Somebody with this issue?.

Ive always used the MX player on my other tabs but on my U30GT2 I've found the BS Player one of the only apps to have smooth playback for mkv files. Does this firmware change that?

Yes Francsal, you are right. i went back to where I purchased my tablet and found no u30gt2 with 16gb. It must be the u30gt1. I am thinking this far along in the changing of the roms that if these two were anything alike at one time, they are not any more. So I withdraw my earlier opinion and yield someone more knowledgeable to offer their thoughts.Sorry Shadow, and i hope you have not gone there yet on my advice. I think I mixed my reply to you with wanting to also reply to danielrostron who asked where to find instructions to flash the rom.
As for as I know, there is a 16gb version of the Cube U30gt2. Just check on the backside if there is a '2' in the right bottom corner.

THanks, just looked at it. I paid $249, with a $10 paypal discount, so mine with 32gb came to $239. So I guess what am saying is that at $249 I guess I'll just buy the daughter a 32gb instead. ...Or I can give her mine and get me a new one next income tax refund....hmmmm that sounds good... THats the ticket...lol
