We'll include a CWM recovery add-on if there is interest in this firmware.

That would be nice. No idea why, but i cant install it "standlone" as it should.

Thank you in advance!

@affs said "The ROM works well, Miltiwindows, wifi, etc..   I Can not install the recovery CWR, by both ways (update.zip, RKAndroidTool)"

I think this is the same problem most others had with previous ROMs with 4GB data partition. I had to use the ROM with a standard 2GB data partition before I could get CWM recovery to install.

Any news on battery drain?

Rob

I have never had any difficulties installing CWM Recovery itself. The devil is in detail. CWM has to be RK30GENERIC_CWM.zip installed manually using ADB console or linux terminal. http://androtab.info/clockworkmod/rockchip/install/.

Have tried U30GT2_CWM.zip once too but it didn't work right. Both are versions 6.0.3.1.

2. Setup adds win8 white style  (I don't know what this means.)

In previous version, there is win8ui but it's unstable.  2L attahced WIN8APP

3. fixed multi-task switching error

5. support H265 video format

7. Remove dual resolution mode

Thanks for improved translation.

I haven't tried this ROM myself, but going to comment anyway ;-)

2. Setup adds win8 white style

Seems there is a new Win8 like launcher, widgets and music player available. Published as separate apps on chinese forum. Not sure if it's pre-installed in this ROM and set as default. Sharing a dropbox link in case anyone feels adventurous to give it a try (on this ROM or previous) https://www.dropbox.com/s/4iqnb0xf9swfgzy/win8app.zip

3. fixed multi-task switching error

Nice, that hopefully refers to the ill-functioning "recent or running apps" button on previous ROMs.

5. support H265 video format

I wish they could fix the H264 playback first before moving onto H265. Has anyone tested H264 720/1080 H264 MKV video files on this ROM, is the smoothness problem solved? Anyway is RK3188 capable of H265 hardware assisted decoding or the support refers to software-only decoding? I am wondering what to expect.

7. Remove dual resolution mode

Ah what a shame, half-res was quite handy for GPU hungry apps. Hopefully they'll bring the feature back later on.

This Version works great.  No lag and battery drain.

DarthJabba, can you re-do this file with Zip recovery?

I have tried it, and it looked to me, that the screen animations were not smooth, it had a small flicker.
The other thing is, that I don't like the phone ui (status bar on the top). I tried to write into the build.prop (tablet_ui=true), but the tablet never booted again. I reflashed, tried to write the same again, does not boot :(
So, I reverted back to the 2.04 test version, 0727.

Installed the FW v2.06 a few hours ago, working great so far.
Here are my subjective observations:
1. Wifi has definitely the best reception from all the kasty versions I've tried. Lately I was running v2.04. Better than my mobile phone. Sitting about 2-3 meters away from router I can still get full bar! In the one hour I played with it (reinstalling apps) I got disconnected only 1 time and it reconnected after about 5 seconds. That wifi nightmare that the tablet used to have, seems to be finally over for me. :)

Only worry now is that I get low download speed (about 1.50Mbps, whereas upload is 7Mbps). It's completely opposite on my smartphone. Most likely it's due to my router. Well, gotta take the bitter with the sweet.

2. Antutu gave me a score of 18381 without overclocking (that is standard 1.6GHz). That's a couple of thousands better than the previous firmwares. I must admit, Antutu version seems to have changed as well, so it might not be an objective score.

3. Battery - cannot say much about it yet, since it wasn't full when I installed the FW, so the battery bar has gone a bit crazy. :)

4. The settings menu now has this "Win8" looks (I'd call it Chinese marketing), haven't noticed it anywhere else. Nothing spectacular at all, still, I like the new design a bit better.

This is just the Kasty release with no changes (i.e., the original kernel in the beta release).

The only way it worked for me was the following method i used: (U30GT2_CWM_6.0.3.1.zip)

U30GT2_CWM.zip

1. Copy "flash_image" file to the "system/bin/", overwrite the original file. Do not change permissions, direct coverage can be. (I use File Manager HD, very good)

2. Start Better Terminal Emulator, enter "su" Enter to obtain root privileges.

3. Enter: "flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img"

4  The wrote recovery partition, reboot into recovery mode with the software(can use "reboot recovery"), on the OK!

DarthJabba, will you be working on getting this overclocked like the #38?  Thanks for the great job!

Darthjabba, I flashed the CWM but it kept on hanging up during booth.  It gets stuck on the Arc tablet Logo.  I'm back to #38 CWM until anyone else can confirm a fix.

Thanks for the effort.

My curiosity got the best of me and despite initial doubt I went ahead and tried it. Mi tablet also got hung up on the arc tablet logo too. I tired it twice with the same effect. Went back to the overclock mod and got hung up again, twice. SO I had to re-flash a previous Darth rom and thankfully that one flashed. I then re-flashed the #38 overclock and all went well. I am not budging from it until I see something better.

I am curious about that win8 UI so if anyone cares to post a pic I would be appreciative. Also can we get some additional reports?

Well I have taken a risk and installed this on my nicely working 0807 Kasty DarthJabba mod.

CWM installation proceeded without errors. After the reboot circular Arctablet logo is shown permanently and booting doesn't seem to proceed. I left it like that for 20 minutes. Tried installing kasty-cube_u30gt2-422-206t_20131017-rooted4.zip 3 times (forced cache and dalvik clear between attempts), no change for better. Booting process never gets past Arctablet logo.

After these experiments i installed kastycube_u30gt2422204_20130807_rooted_darthjabba_201310032215.zip and #38 OC back and got working system again, with all my apps, settings and data preserved as they were before.

I remember experiencing the exactly the same trouble (boot hanging on Arctablet logo) the first time I attempted to install DarthJabba 0807 zip onto default 0810 ROM (not 4GB kasty). Back thank it was rather expectable as DarthJabba's zip wasn't supposed to instal and operate properly on non-kasty ROM. This time however I have expected DarthJabba 0807 would be zip-upgradable to DarthJabba 1017 without problem.

What might be the reason for boot stalling on Arctablet logo? Wish it has "BSOD" with dump displayed when unexpected failure like this occurs. ;-)
