Hi all
This is to canvass your views on (and see whether there is any demand for) releasing ROMs for the Cube U30GT2 in CWM update.zip format. I have discussed this with admin, and it was suggested that we start a discussion about it on the forum, to try and gauge the level of interest.
What releasing ROMs in CWM update.zip format means is that you install the ROMs from CWM Recovery, by using the "Install zip from sdcard" option.
Advantages:
- There is no need for any external flashing tools - all you need to do is copy the ROM to the sdcard, and boot to CWM Recovery;
- All your settings and installed apps are preserved; this is the way to upgrade your ROM without having to reinstall your apps or to reconfigure the tablet;
- It is easy to package a ROM in this format (at least, I find it easy) - I have converted each Kasty ROMs for the past 3 months or so to this format before upgrading, and so I have not had to reinstall my apps with each new release;
- Users can more easily share their mods - for example, I keep reading about the latest ROMs draining batteries; I have simply not experienced this, because I always merge the jellybelly mods into my mod before upgrading - and I am willing to share my mods (for anyone who is brave enough to try them (with all disclaimers, of course - don't blame me if your tablet gets bricked);
- Can't think of any other - but perhaps someone else can?
Disadvantages:
- You need to have CWM Recovery installed on the tablet in order to install such a ROM
- Can't think of any other - but perhaps someone else can?
Any views or comments?
Thanks.

Awesome,that would be so much easier!! Thanks for that,how soon would you have a ROM in cwm?
It it is available now:
CUBE U30GT2 Darth Jabba firmware mod; based on kasty-cube_u30gt2-422-204_20130810-cwm_rooted4d
CHANGES (compared with the original Kasty ROM):
1. All applications related to phone functions removed (to stop battery drain). A side-effect is that "About table->Status" will crash the settings app.
2. Some unnecessary library files (relics from removed Chinese apps) have been deleted.
3. Multi-user mode is enabled by default (fw.max_users=5)
4. Some extra apps added to system folder (e.g., Dolphin browser, Reboot)
5. Some extra user apps added (e.g., Bitdefender antivirus, Master Key dual fix, Nova Launcher, Bluebox security scanner, etc.)
6. persist.sys.ui.hw set to "false" (allows some games to play)
7. ro.rk.systembar.tabletUI set to "true" (solves wallpaper stretch problems)
8. Timezone set to Europe/London
9. Language/locale set to GB and English
10. Tablet set to announce itself as GT-P7500 (Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1)
Installation:
1. Copy this zip file to the tablet's SD card
2. Reboot the tablet to CWM Recovery
3. Select "Install zip from sdcard"
4. Then select "Choose zip from sdcard"
5. Scroll on the SD card to this zip file, and select it
6. Confirm that you do want to install it; the installation process will take several minutes.
7. The tablet will reboot back to the CWM Recovery
8. Select "Reboot system now"
9. Go and make a cup of tea and sandwich.
10. Drink the cup of tea and eat the sandwich; make sure you spend at least 10 minutes doing this.
11. Come back to the tablet after 10 minutes. Everything should be ready now.
DISCLAIMER:
You use this mod entirely at your own risk! If your tablet is bricked, then that is too sad. If you are worried about bricking your tablet, then STOP RIGHT NOW !!!

Can I ask why you don't just rename the phone apk then if someone wants to use a dongle
all they have to do is rename them again and not go looking for a zip fix?
Also what's the advantage of calling this tablet GT-P7500 (Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1?
the disadvantage of this is if one uses android lost or Cerberus they won't work correctly.
Just asking

* Phone.apk is useless; I don't want it on my tablet. I am yet to see one person on this forum who has expressed any need for it. Of course it can be renamed instead of being deleted, but to what intent?
* Calling itself GT-P7500 improves compatibility with Google Play apps. I don't know anything about "android lost or Cerberus", and I cannot see why they won't work properly - but if they really don't, then I would like to know why anyone would write an app that won't work with Samsung Galaxy Tab.
As I said earlier, this mod was created for my purposes. I am sharing it because I think others might find it useful. People should stay with the original Kasty ROM unless there is something in this mod that they want/need. After all, the real work is in Kasty!

Is there french language on this rom
Why this anouncing GT-P7500 (Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1)
Is this a joked
Is it possible to boot directly in recovery when the tablet is down or if android can't boot
thanks
Yes there is French. The mod is exactly the same as the latest Kasty ROM, except for the changes that I have listed.
This mod has no effect on how the tablet boots up. So if you could do it before, you will still be able to do it - and vice versa.

Hello Darth,
I tried installing the CWMMod on my Cube U30GT2 but it's not compatible for some reason. Do you have any idea on what's wrong.

To use Master Key dual fix;
1. Run Xposed Installer
2. Select "Modules", and then tick the box next to "Master Key dual fix"
3. Go back, then select "Framework"
4. Select "Install/Update"
5. Reboot the tablet
6. After tablet reboots, run "Master Key dual fix"; it should say that the patch is now active. If it isn't, you may need to repeat steps 3 and 4 above
To check that everything is working well, run Bluebox Security Scanner
@Dolphin - I have had no issues with it.
@Nova Launcher - you can change the label when it is running - just press the icon and hold it down; a menu will come up; select "Edit", and change the label.
