Hello all, I brought this thread up because I did not want to start a new thread on this issue. Last night i tried the new android camera app for our system I got it from AndroidPolice.com. As some may have realized the camera app was one of the apps that is problematic with our build. The new app is supposed to update the one we got with kitkat as an update not a separate app.
So I have had not back camera with the kitkat upgrades except for a few weeks when I loaded the previous kitkat upgrade, was working fine one day, then dead the next. Then it just fc from that point until now. Front works fine, back camera fc each time I opened. I erased the app in systems file several times and it just has not worked. I thought the new KK rom would make a difference. But it does not. I uploaded it and it came in as a separate camera app, fc upon opening. I erased the previous kitkat apk in system and tried reloading the new, same issue. So I reased the new one also, reflashed the last DJ ( I was on the last kasty with previous attempt) which reloaded the camera apk that comes native to the rom, then erased the native camera apk in systems, and loaded the new apk. Same issue, FC upon opening.
Again, the front camera opens and works fine with the native camera apk, back camera FC. With new android camera apk on android police for kitkat I dont get past the opening screen before it force closes.
Any ideas? Anything else I should be erasing or adjusting before trying the new apk? All other camera apps I tried work fine with front camera, but fc or does not even open with back camera. I would like to see the new features on that new camera app from android.

I am not sure that simply deleting apks will get the job done. There's cached stuff that may need to be dispensed with - so, to be sure that nothing untoward is left behind, you probably should also delete the system cache and the dalvik cache (best done from CWM - but I think you can do it from Titanium Backup as well).
PS: I have found that if you tap the middle of the screen after the KK camera app has been started, the app will re-calibrate the screen, getting rid of all the blurry lines.
