Is it possible to take the wifi antenna out of a laptop and build it in the cube u30gt2?

Was just sitting 15 ft away from router and played fluently hd over lan in xbmc. 56mbps good. Passive ip address.

Now 65mpbs excellent reception at 20 ft from router. What did i do:

- use good password and use wps for connecting the tab with the router

- keep the router in line of sight from the router, so as few as possible obstacles in the way. I placed my router a bit higher, about 4 ft from the ground.

Just did a test with hd movie through wifi and it worked flawless. No tape or removing the metal object from the tablet.

grtz, Mark

Hello Mark,

Thanks for your feedback, glad it works better for you now.

About your initial question, I am not very qualified to answer but I think it really depends on the notebook antenna design which takes into account the antenna physical area available inside the notebook case, the bands (most recent notebooks also support 5GHz band with 802.11 a/c), the surrounding material (if there's metal or not) and the transmit power. That's a lot of parameters and I think there is little chance to find a good match between a notebook antenna and the U30GT2.

As you did, it's probably best to investigate the software/configuration side (change channel or 802.11 protocol on the router, check different AP physical positions) before turning to the hardware solution Wink

Cheers.
