How to go from unrooted Android 4.1.1 on U30GT2 to rooted 4.4
I have a U30GT2 running original factory Android 4.1.1 unrooted. It has been crashing programs, perhaps removing some, after each time the battery is recharged or even just wake up from screen off. Would upgrading firmware and OS help? How?

I have read through a number of online posts here and elsewhere. It seems that I must first root the system, then install Arctools (which version?) and then CWM before flashing. I am not sure about if this is the right order, and whether I can skip the earlier upgrades (4.2.2, for example) and go directly to the newest available firmware and OS. A summary of the major steps would be helpful to me.

you can install through usb via rockbatchtool. Just download and extract the chinese rom from 30102014. Then use wmshua to root it and if using the overclocked rom use build prop editor from the market to set rotation degree from 270 to 0 or 360 degrees.

Thanks. I am not following the overclock part---what has rotation to do with it?

Not sure, but think when overclocking, the rotation in build.prop changes to 270 degrees, making the screen rotate wrong. It should be either 0 or 360 degrees.
