Two kind of updates

ROM with oc#38 kernel (this is a 206 restore which destroys all)

Kernel with oc#38 (this is an update of kasty DJ 204 to 206 nothing destroyed)

both astonishing updtes

thanks to kasty & DJ

regards

So to be clear, is #38 O.C. kernel compatible with 2.06 ignoring the fact any improvements Cube

has made?

@robiom

I am not a specialist

ask Kasty or DJ

but I installed "CWM update

http://arctablet.com/users/forum/kernel38_overclocked_darthjabba_201310171913.zip"

on a kasty 204 rom

I kept my system

and CUBE says "Numéro de build V2.06 ... I am french !"

regards

As far as I am aware (i.e., from my own experience on my Cube), yes.

Chuck Borris said I sadly have to report ther is a major power drain on standby if the wifi is on. Went from 100% to 90% in couple of hours. After turning wifi of it went from 82% to 81% during the night (8 hours) Darthjabba how can i achive that wifi would automaticaly turn of after locking (as is in most of your mods)

could you explain

how did you manage it? i can't make wifi on after screen lock

When i activate screen again in the morning, the first thing is, that i turn wifi on again... Nothing complicated...

i guess you have misunderstood me... i mean i couldn't make wifi "always on".. whatever i did wifi turns its off when screen sleeps

Go to your settings-->wifi-->advance--> keep wifi on during sleep-->always. Thats how I have mine set up. If that does not work tell us what you tried.

we are both using same settings, but wifi turns off during sleep

@Jgarciaillanf1

no problem if u do a rom restore

but 4.1.2 means it's original : so backups

Thank you validatus. The 4.1.2 firmware is the stock firmware, so: ¿should i do backup? If the answer is yes...

1- Install CWM.

2- Flash the ROM as DarthJabba explains.

3- Any issues probably xD

¿Is that correct?

Thank you again. :D

Things may go wrong anytime and the odds are they will. It's handy to have a backup plan then. If you don't care about your current data, apps and setting skip to step 5.

1. Backup valuable data from internal sd to anwhere outside tablet.

2. Install CWM. Your ROM must be rooted first.

3. CWM: Backup NAND to external sd. That way you can possibly revert to your 4.1.2 if something goes wrong.

4. CWM: Install 20131029-kasty-rom-darthjabba zip.

If by chance installation succeded and tablet booted successfuly you're fine. Otherwise proceed like this:

5. Eject external sd.

6. Flash 20131029 Kasty ROM img using RKBatchTool (this will format your Android partitions including internal sd!). Boot it. It's rooted.

7. Install CWM using integrated Arctools (wohoo).

8. CWM: Install 20131029-kasty-rom-darthjabba zip from internal sd.

If installation succeded and tablet booted successfuly you're fine. Running factory-default Android.
Otherwise try again or attempt to rollback to your 4.1.2 CWM backup. You may need to flash stock 4.1.2 before recovering 4.2.1 CWM backup in order to get suitable partition layout. Recover internal sd data from backup.

Hi guys,

What is your battery consumption in stand by with DathJabba's latest? (no overclocked kernel). Mine rounds the 1% per hour on average... I have removed phone apk's. Tablet enters fine in deep sleep, no wakelocks. WIFI is off... I think this consumption is excessive but I somehow don't think I have a defect battery, it lasts around 5-6 hours navigating with WIFI on and around 7 hours reading comic books... what's your experience?

Thanks

Hello there, probably this is not the right place for it. But, here it goes:

Darthjabba, can you do some overclock tweak on the GPU ? When i´m reading ebooks the turn page is damm lag, basically. I saw on web a lot of things to overclock the MAIL 400 gpu that our tablet has, but none for it. Can you work something on that :X ?

Or this lag on turning the page (on ezPDF) is something else?

Thanks and sorry if this is the wrong place :X

You may want to install kernel #38 OC that comes with overclock features (including GPU iirc).

A combination of Adobe Reader + 2D GPU Rendering enabled in Android developer settings provides the best known PDF viewing experience. At least in terms of rendering performance and scrolling smoothness. Night and day difference for me. Alternative PDF viewers like ezPDF are sluggish in comparison as they can't take full advantage of hardware assisted rendering (speculation).

Nope. I never did any overclock tweak on anything. I just packaged an overclocked kernel into CWM format.

Im using the #38 kernel.. and i enabled the 2D GPU and the page turning option (like a book-with effects) is still lagged in ez :(

the turning page on Adobe is ugly.. thats why i wondered.. to bad im unlucky on this one..anyway, thanks for the quick reply.

Hy, i have overclocked version. Did the same things you did (phone.apk, wifi) and I have the same experience as you do. Power drain cca 1% per hour in stand by.

I think i'll have to go back to 07082013 darthjabbas version
