I have no flickering effect when I use Nova Launcher (which I always use). So my advice is to change your launcher ...
I will try the stock launchers later to see what happens ...

Perhaps your tablet doesn't like some of the overclocked frequencies?
It may significant that that stock kernel's gpu and ddr settings are pretty low - unreasonably low in my opinion, compared with what the hardware can do generally, and what you could do on JellyBean. This probably indicates that they could not get the higher frequencies to work reliably on all devices with the KitKat kernels, even though the hardware is supposed to be able to support those higher frequencies.
Given what validatus has written in other threads about the state of the insides of his device, I would not be surprised if all these problems were due to poor quality control at the factory level.

I have a tablet that i received around the same time Val did, and I must confess I have not seen the problems others who stated they bought it around the same time have had. Others have written that they als obought around same time and have had my experience. Now I have participated in DArthJabbas rom and kernnel experience and have always settled for a higher combo DJ rom and kernnel, I'm on record on this.
Currently I am on stock kernnel and do see flickering when moving around the web, like a red outer ring around the screen when it changes from one page to another location. No flickering when I go from app to app or drag them around or when I am not on the web. Last beta I was confi with a DJ kernnel t14 798/720_4. I am just doing battery callibrations test before going to those other kernnel later.
It may be bad quality control, or bad firmware development control, I don't know what it is. But from what I read here on this forums is that some people got good tablets (from all manufacturing phaces) and others did not. Mine has been fine, and perhaps its because I don't have the same experience others have with tablets. After a year of fiddling now however what ever troubles my tablet may or may not be suffering under are my own fault for undertaking changes in search of a better experience. So I think if you have spent a year flashing and reflashin and tweeking and retweeking the firmware on the tablet, I think it's no longer Cube's fault, though initially it may have been.

I have updated the first post with gpu798 overclocked kernels (download #5). There is "gpu798h" (which is based on the original T14 specs), and there is a new "gpu798ht" ("t" stands for "turbo"). The main difference lies in the in-between frequencies (higher in the turbo version). To be honest, I haven't found a great improvement in gpu798 over gpu768; and 798 runs hotter. I have gone back to gpu768h, but your mileage may vary ...
I've tried gpu798 h & ht, but they both perform worse than gpu768. Is it again some failsafe frequency it defaults to? Anyways, I'm back on 768 now, and will keep it that way.

Changing to any other launcher gives somewhat better experience, but the flickering is not completely solved. It happens randomly, and not everytime in same places, or with same magnitude, so it can sometimes happen without you even seeing it. Like a ninja-flicker

Did you maybe tried it already? I don't know if that flickering and "graphical corruption" I mentioned in my other post are in fact the same bug, but try to install Zombie Tsunami and you'll see it as soon as you start playing the game. This is the only case where I always see it, no matter what launcher or kernel I'm using.
And btw, I've tried it on a complete stock (cpu/gpu/ddr), and it still happens. I also did some AnTuTu testing to see how much worse does it perform on a stock - 4,000 points less! Wow...

To all suffering from flickering, could you try to check the the 'Force GPU rendering' option inside the Developer's Settings?
Thanks. It seems it's helping a bit (in Zombie Tsunami), but not in every case (navigation bar still flickers - maybe it can't use GPU for rendering?). Believe it or not, this is like 3rd or 4th time I was about to check this option, but always forget to check it out. First time I saw it in this post, but didn't know what is the real problem. Could have linked those two cases and conclude it myself, but with zillion things going through my mind, I just forget about it...

The frequencies reduce in chunks - I guess the kernel (or gpu itself) selects according to what it thinks is best.

I installed CWM from the ROM, and I also happen flickers in the navigation bar. The lack of the cursor in the text boxes I also occurs. Otherwise go super-smooth, and clash of clans goes like a bullet! Congratulations on a job, @DarthJabba, and those little bugs that are safe because the launcher is not prepared for so fast
I have had a problem with the dolphin browser to install my copy of titanium on bringing your ROM, and caused it not to work. I went into CWM I've done factory reset and I installed your ROM again, and it's not the logo of the Cube. A which may be due?
Greetings.

I did the "forced gpu rendering" and some but not all of the red frame flickering went away. I then downloaded the 798H/720 DJ kernel and it dissapeared completely. I am doing battery callibration now (after leaving it plugged in all night),( because i forgot,) since this morning. Seemed to run very smoothly like the last 798 I was on. Will report back later.

Did you tick "Disable HW overlays" under the developer options? That is what removes the flickering.
fter flashing your kernel, because it had disapeared after flashing. But I will untick the gpu rendering to see if it brings it back, if it does I will do the disable HW overlays, Im pretty sure is was not checked.
Batt is at 96% since starting callibration @Â 1pm today. Tablet has been asleep with screen off but wifi is on. I woke it up twice once at 5 and one just a few seconds agot to write this rsponse. I feel its doing good so far. But have not done much since I started callibration with the 798H/720 DJ kernel version. i may, if I am satisfied go for that 798ht just to give it a try.

Just want to say thank you.
Installed Darthjabba's "kasty_442_20140219_rooted7_DJ_cpu1800_gpu768_ddr600_201403142222"
After 5 hours of usage:
It is far smoother than "kasty-cube_u30gt2-422-206_20131029-rooted4" or Darthjabba's v2.06 +/- various overclocking kernels. v2.06 was nice however there were frequent times where it became unusable due to lag. Also I couldn't get netflix to work. With this rom, there is some flickering which does not bother me. My cube is a lot more responsive and so far, less lag with fewer random reboots. Will update if things change.
Awesome work. U guys are legends!
