Ok, here is theĀ Cube U30GT2 Android 4.4.2 KitKat (2014/02/19) in CWM format;

Downloads:

1. ROM (with overclocked kernel - cpu, gpu, and ddr): http://www.arctablet.com/users/forum/kasty_442_20140219_rooted7_DJ_cpu1800_gpu768_ddr600_201403142222.zip

2. Phone mod to remove the telephony stuff (untested): http://www.arctablet.com/users/forum/kitkat_phone_DJ_mod.zip

3. Kernel Repository (various permutations of KitKat Kernel #352 - stock, and overclocked) in CWM format (you first need to extract them from this zip file): http://www.arctablet.com/users/forum/DJ_kitkat_kernel352_repository.zip

* This mod is based on kasty-cube_u30gt2-442-20140219-rooted7_mu

* This mod is suitable for 4GB or 7GB data partition (which must already be set)

CHANGES to the Kasty ROM:
1. Some unnecessary library files (relics from removed Chinese apps) have been deleted.

2. Multi-user mode is enabled by default (fw.max_users=5)

3. Some extra user apps added (e.g., Dolphin browser, Reboot, Master Key dual fix, Nova Launcher, Bluebox security scanner, Xposed Installer (has to be enabled first), bash, Terminal Emulator, etc.)

4. persist.sys.ui.hw set to "false" (allows some games to play)

5. ro.rk.systembar.tabletUI set to "true" (solves wallpaper stretch problems)

6. Timezone set to London

7. Language/locale set to GB and English

8. Tablet set to announce itself as GT-P7500 (Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1) ā€“ this is for better compatibility with Google Play apps

9. This mod has an OVERCLOCKED KERNEL; the CPU is clocked at 1800mhz, the GPU is clocked at 768mhz; the DDR memory is clocked at 600mhz.

If you are worried about overclocking and what it might do to your tablet, then this mod with the overclocked kernel is NOT for you!

Installation (NOTE: your tablet must already be running KitKat 4.4.x):

0. Eject and remove any external SD card

1.Ā  Copy this zip file to the tablet's internal SD card (i.e., NAND)

2.Ā  Reboot the tablet to CWM Recovery

3.Ā  Select "Install zip from sdcard"

4.Ā  Then select "Choose zip from sdcard"

5.Ā  Scroll on the SD card to this zip file, and select it

6.Ā  Confirm that you do want to install it; the installation process will take several minutes.

7.Ā  The tablet will reboot back to the CWM Recovery

8.Ā  Select "Reboot system now"

9.Ā  Go and make a cup of tea and sandwich.

10. Drink the cup of tea and eat the sandwich; make sure you spend at least 10 minutes doing this.

11. Come back to the tablet after 10 minutes. Everything should be ready now.

NOTES:

A. You may need to reboot the tablet once or twice for things to settle down completely.

DISCLAIMER:
You use this mod entirely at your own risk! If your tablet is bricked, then that is too sad.

If you are worried about bricking your tablet, then STOP RIGHT NOW !!!

I would have thought so - but then you wouldn't get the advantages of the updated kernel. I have added a zip file containing 3 overclocked kernels in CWM format to the first post (above).

Updated successfully, the tablet is stable but I have a small issue: when navigating through the menus and multiple desktops, the buttons on the bottom of the screen often have a dissapearing-appearing effect. Anyone else experiencing this?

I wonder what CWM version is supposed to be used to flash these ZIPs. The 6.3.0.1 one coming with ArcTools is unable to mount partitions other than external_sd and therefore is unable to flash anything. Flashing from external_sd source works neither because it fails to mount target partitions. Hmmm.

Ā Going to flash OC kernel from Windows flashing tool but I'd love to flash DJ main ZIP as well...

EDIT: this is experienced with freshly flashed kasty-cube_u30gt2-442-20140219-rooted7_mu.zip

Regarding CWM, why don't you guys flash this CWM recovery (check also the posts following it)? Indeed it's not specificaly made for our Cubes, but for me and my needs everything works perfectly (backup, restore, sd mounting, etc). But I would like to see Cube's CWM version too, maybe it's has some new feature that I would like to have.

Which SD card, internal or external, or both? I usualy throw my ZIP's on internal sd card, and everything goes smooth. Can't remember for external sd, but it should mount it as well.

Interesting. Then there's something else at play in your case. I don't know what else it could be...
