Well, if it works, the battery charge will have a normal life (i.e., ~7-8 hours playing youtube videos non-stop, and ~3-5 days on standby).

I installed the mod to kasty 2.04test4 2013-08-07.  After 1 hour the Gsam battery monitor shows 93% of usage for Phone, but the battery level didn't decrease.  Needs more testing.  Let you know.

Try the attached package (in CWM update format) - the files are from the last ROM release that apparently does not drain the battery. If it works, then please let us know.

Installation:
1.  Copy this zip file to the tablet's SD card
2.  Reboot the tablet to CWM Recovery
3.  Select "Install zip from sdcard"
4.  Then select "Choose zip from sdcard"
5.  Scroll on the SD card to this zip file, and select it
6.  Confirm that you do want to install it; the installation process will take several minutes.
7.  The tablet will reboot back to the CWM Recovery
8.  Select "Reboot system now"
9.  Go and make a cup of tea and sandwich.
10. Drink the cup of tea and eat the sandwich; make sure you spend at least 10 minutes doing this.
11. Come back to the tablet after 10 minutes. Everything should be ready now.

DISCLAIMER:

You use this mod entirely at your own risk! If your tablet is bricked, then that is too sad. If you are worried about bricking your tablet, then STOP RIGHT NOW !!!

Hi DarthJabba, thank you for yr mod and all yr dedication. I am going to install the mod later this day. See if it solves the battery drain problem, or not.

Btw, may I ask how do u convert a standard flash update rom to cwm update rom format?

It is not an easy process. You have to extract the boot, kernel and system images from the ROM, sign the boot and kernel images, create a zip file with the relevant structure and appropriate updater binary and script, and, move the boot, kernel and system images into the zip file.

i installed the mod, and no luck to save the battery drain on my machine. i went back to v.2.03 already, and the battery became normal now.

no, because i don't think it is related.

the problem of v.2.04 is sleep mode. the machine can't really go to sleep at all, even though the screen is off. from battery meter, the screen (strange enough that the screen is actually off most of the time) and wifi are always on. it can be proved by simple hand touch on the machine back. on v2.04, the back is still warm after a few hours of sleep. on v2.03, the back is always cool in sleep mode.

Well, I wouldn't be so sure. My phone once told me that the battery had 1% left, yet it ran youtube non-stop for an hour after that. So I had to recalibrate it.

Without trying, then you can't rule it out Belleville! So here is my report since instaling Darth's zip, and after follow up mod. So far with the new rom and the mod and after 18:15:35 on the battery is at 31% usage on sleep mode, with a few wake ups to go online to look in on the archtablet forum. Wifi was active. Phone radio did consume 91.5 % of the power used, wifi 0.8%, screen 3.0%, held awake 2.9%. power left 69%. I did do a calibration when I installed your zip Darth, but not after the follow up mod.

@DarthJabba. I was flashing my Cube many times but never recalibrated its battery (I bought my tablet 5 months ago). Within last few days it started to behave quite strange. For example: when having 1% of power left it has been restarted and after that I have read that it has still 13% power to use. Can I recalibrate the battery now, after 3 days of flashing my Cube with your mod or it is too late for any possible reasons? Or maybe I should wait till the next flashing when any new custom rom appears?

I don't think it is ever too late. I use the app "Easy Battery Calibration". You need to recalibrate with it when the battery is full.
