Easily 4gb of apps storage.  Better with 8 or 16gigs.  I put my movies, etc. on an SD card.  doesn't everyone?

@admin: I would like to propose that space for apps storage (i.e., the /data partition) should be set at 4GB. The default 2GB will eventually turn out to be too constraining, and I am not sure that one can increase its size after installing the firmware.

Thanks.

Hi, i agree with 4GB.....So far i didn't use more than 1GB....but in the future its possible...

And with 32GB tablet..still left plenty of space ;-)  for everything else.....

Hi All.

My vote goes for 4 GB or more. Saves me having to migrate APPS to the SDCard when space fills up.

You could opt to offer two tastes of the ROM (2GB or 4GB).

Regards,

Iemand

PS The need for a working CIFS module can be dropped from my point of view. I've finally found a Viewer that can stream a comic per page (.CBR) over LAN versus copying the whole file.

To be honest, I would have preferred 8GB myself, because then you know for sure that you will never overrun it. I only suggested 4GB because I thought some people might balk at the idea of 8GB.

Hi all,

I have nothing but trouble with the 4.2 roms.... Every time I have updated my CUBE it has intermittent startups. Sometimes it will boot, other times just hangs on black screen. Occasionally it will show the peas2 logo then just go black.

So frustrating - please can someone solve this problem as it looks like it's inherent in all 4.2 roms and there are a LOT of people having this problem.

When it works it works great and I love 4.2..... please someone sort this out for us.

I have tried the arctablet roms as well as the clean version by Stassen and get the same issues. Again, none of these problems occur on 4.1

One other question for anyone - is there a way to keep my settings and apps everytime I flash to a different version or am I doomed to lose everything?

Oh and I agree at least a minimum of 4gb app space too.

Thanks

If you have CWM recovery installed, then creating a CWM zip file for the firmware (which will include the boot, kernel and system images) will allow you to keep your apps and settings. A less drastic solution is to install Titanium Backup, and register it. It will allow you to backup all your apps with their data (including system apps and data). Restoring the backups is easy. You can also copy the backups to an external SD card for safe-keeping. Titanium can create an update.zip file from the backups, which can be installed from recovery.

PS: I don't have any bootup issues.

Tested this build for a few days now, so far absolutely no problems at all.

no hangups / sudden reboots here... you DID use "restore" on the rk-tool, didn´t you?

Chrome is... well, not exactly fluid but entirely usable, Battery is better since renaming phone.apk, WiFi is stable... good job, Cube! and of course thx admin for cleaning up and rooting... on a sidenote, I also opt for 4GB /data, there´s more than enough space built-in :)

As almost all of you, I fully agree with the Darthjabba proposal.  4 GB Apk memory is a good improvement.

Thank you all for your hard work. It makes easier newbies life ;-)

For me it is the best firmware i've ever tested but i cant install CWM Recovery. I tried this with 6.0.3.1 and 5.5.0.4 without any success. i flashed with the RKAndroidTool like described. if i boot into recovery via the arctools i only see a death android roboter with a warning symbol looking outside his stomache :)

can anybody help me? with cwm the tablet will be (near) perfect with the 4.2.2

Perhaps admin can add the CWM recovery image to the next release? I'm not sure how these things work, but I think there are firmwares that have CWM recovery included in them.
