It is with great regret that I announce the death of my Cube U30GT2. It fell out of its leather case onto a concrete floor, and various things broke on the inside of it.Yell It is beyond fixing.

I am not sure that I will replace it any time soon (I might just have to stick with my phone). So this may be my goodbye to this wonderful forum. Have a nice life, guys! Cry

NOoooooooooo. Geez! "Damned Jim, it can't be so, can't you get Scottie to pull the dilithium crystals!" Man I am so sorry to hear that pal. Without a doubt we will miss your sage advice and awesome work and other contributions. I certainly hope its not the end of your participation here. The amount of work you pushed and inspired in the last year has been a boon to us Cube owners. Big shoes to fill there DarthJabba, Oh Dark Jedi from Nal Hutta!

Good luck and here is hoping you can get a replacement for your Cube! Or a reasonable cheap replacement on Ebay. I came cllose to getting two cubes for about $140.00US. But the wife had me busy and both times I lost it by minutes and less than $10.00US. I was pissed! Good luck Darth!

Hello DarthJabba,

Sorry to read that about your Cube, may it rest in peace.

Thanks again for the great help you provided in the forum and with your CWM firmwares, they will surely be missed.

BTW, if I remember right, I have seen some requests around in the forum by people looking for parts (on top of my head, things like a a flexible "ribbon" cable to the display and the on-off button) If you like that could the occasion to help fellow Cube users. Feel free to post a topic if you want to sell/give some parts Wink

All the best.

You're all so kind!Embarassed I spent some time looking at a number of RK3188 tablets (including Teclast, Pipo, etc), and gave up. But, being one who always enjoys a challenge, I tried to see what I could do to rescue the tablet, or, failing that, to remove the internal SD card (data security and all). I am pleased to say that I have some good-ish news.

After a bit of effort (removing broken electrical stuff, gluing some things, poking here and there, etc), I have managed to salvage something. The tablet boots up, and all the functionality seems okay at the software level. But there is no volume button, or power button (well, they are sort of "there", but they don't work, because they are not now connected to anything). I can switch the tablet off by using an app. I can switch it on by just connecting the mains power. The big problem was how to wake it up from sleep. I then discovered (quite by accident) that removing the external SD card wakes the tablet (I guess doing that sends a hardware signal).

So, in effect, I have a tablet that I can use - but I am stuck with the current volume setting, and I have to do drastic stuff to wake it from sleep. I'm sure that there must be apps out there that let you set the volume through software. The struggle continues ...

Hmmm ... the two speaker icons at the bottom of the screen control the volume (duh!) - so I do have volume control after all.Cool
