Hi all

Since a couple of weeks my tablets battery is not working as it should. After charging the battery it will drain pretty fast and only keep the tablet alive until it reaches around 70 %. After that the tablet is completely dead. If I use the tablet it will work for less then one hour. Maybe 30 minutes or something.

What do you think? I believe I have one or more  broken cells in the battery. Anyone else got these problems or heard anyone with it?

I have seen replacement batteries on AliExpress for around 20 usd including shipment. http://www.aliexpress.com/item//988532241.html

regards

There was a guy on here with the same problem once, there is a thread here somewhere...

He successfully replaced the battery

Good luck

Sorry for not getting back earlier. Thanks for the tip. I have today decided to order a new battery instead of sending the tablet back to china. Hongkongeek.com requested me to send the tablet with all the accessories in the original box, the box which I have already thrown away. Anyway, buying and shipping the battery from china will actually be cheaper then shipping the tablet to china. Crazy...

And now I get a better battery the the standard one. The ordered battery is 8600 mAh, the original is 7200 mAh I think. That some 20% more juice ;)

I will get back with rest of the story...

Just realized that I don't have a Torx size 3 screwdriver... I just ordered one and called a friend who might have one at home.

I will make some kind of documentation during the operation.

So how did it go? Did it work? Was it a difficult operation? Have you noticed an increase in battery life?

Greetings

Hi,

I have the same problem, in standby, battery indicator down from 78% to 40%, in one night, then  in 45 min, the baterry is empty.

I'm very interested, in the documentation of the process, because I can't find how to replace the battery of the cube U30GT2.

I will order the battery soon.

Thanks Baeckman!!!

Hi all

Sorry for not posting earlier.

I took some pictures during the operation. They can be found here: https://plus.google.com/photos/112734047944683581451/albums/5929677794372490561

As I wrote above I did not have any torx driver in the right size. It took another week for me to get one. I used the T3 driver to get the tablet open. These screws are really small...

I removed all the metal around the tablet and then loosened the plastic back plate. This is the tricky part. The camera module is attached to the back plate and has a really short wire down to the circuit board. I used a flat screwdriver to get the camera out of position. I was a bit rough and did not bother if the camera broke or not. Who needs a really bad camera on a tablet anyway... ;) But it was ok, the camera did not break.

I removed some adhesive tape and got a clear look at the battery soldering and wiring. Now I came to the second problem. I could not find my soldering iron... Instead I cut the cables and twisted the new and old cables together and used some insulating tape to hold it in place. Not the best solution but good for now. I might open the case later on do it the right way... (Who am I trying to fool...) ;)

Putting the tablet back together was nothing complicated. Started to charge the tablet and it booted up right away. Battery charged properly and is now working good. I never put back the metallic strip around the tablet. I read somewhere that the metallic is blocking the wifi signal very badly. I believe I have better reception now.

I think the battery is now a little better then before. I run the 2.04 firmware and think that the firmware is draining the battery more then it should. It is a little bit hard to compare.

I am right now thinking of selling the tablet and buy the iFive X2 instead. The front speakers, usb charging and smaller form factor is the selling point for me. And the smart cover case (http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Original-Smart-Cover-Case-for-FNF-ifive-X2-8-9inch-Tablet-PC-with-sleep-mode-Free/100845_1060909961.html).

Thanks for sharing this. Looks like I'll have a little DIY of my own soon too... mine abruptly shuts down as soon as the battery reaches ~70%.
