Hi guys, I got this tablet since 2 month and the biggest problem on it it's the RAM usage.
There is 2Go of RAM on this tablet but it always use 1.1Go at minimum...
So, with 2 or 3 apps launched, it only stay 400/500 mo of free RAM...
Where is the problem ? Software ? Hardware ?
On french forums, there is a lot of people with the same issue.
Thx for your help, sorry for my english ^^
You have 4/5 opened apps, but there are other apps in the background which you don`t see.
I don`t see the problem, because you still have 400/500 available which is sufficient for most of the apps.
right that's a high amount of used memory....
I think it could be something like shared memory on older PC, when you have an integrate GPU on the board with allocated memory for it (that you can modify in Bios)...
Maybe 512Mo allocated to GPU to Handle the FullHD screen
And maybe 600Mo used by system...
Only 900Mo left.....when sometime 1Go tablet have 700Mo left but in 1024x768, or 512Mo one still have 200Mo but in 800x480
For exemple : on Retina Allwinner A31 2Go tablet, it shows about 1Go left/1.5Go total memory...allocated GPU memory isn't count? if it is the case, it's not so different...
That's one possibility...but is it the reality?
With the last firmware from Arctablet, a nice test can be done !!! You can switch between HD or normal so just compare the available ram between the 2 resolutions !
You will be fixed !
Following my calculation :
1920 X 1128 X 240 = 495.7 M
Actually I have 1.2 G in use , 800 M free and total of 113 M used by visible apps in parameters.
I used to be obsessed with ram usage, but a great developer pointed out, that unused ram is wasted ram. It won't make a difference to responsiveness or opening and running apps. The fact that the system is using ram in the background, actually might make some tasks on the tablet faster..
