Thanks for your advice. I'll start rooting then. Regarding the wifi: it was loosing connection after every standby, after which I set it to keep wifi connection during standby in the android settings. It seems to be keeping connection better, but it is now draining the battery during standby even more. Is that your experience too?

I'm comparing the battery standby time with the iPad 2 or is that not fair?

I noticed that the battery meter in the cube is not linear. The first 50% is drained in like the first 1 to 2 hours, but then it gets stuck at 50% after which it takes like 5 hours of full use to go down to 20%. Yesterday I watched 7 HD episodes of my favorite series using the HDMI cable to my HD TV and from 46% the battery went down to just 40%...

Edit: I keep my screen brightness to minimum as much as possible to save battery life.

I do not think it is fair to compare to the iPad. The iPad is a very expensive single hardware platform with highly optimized hardware and a highly optimized operating system and thus there should be tricks to increase the standby time and battery life. In comparison, Android is a generic operating system that runs on a multitude of hardware where the response and user experience can differ between devices.

hureya there are already many resources for that, check our forum and post specific questions if you have difficulties. Flashing a firmware with Rockchip Batch Tool on a MAC won't work, you'll need a PC for that.

Cheers.

admin, I actually read several articles on how to root, but I take a doubt, wanted to install this custom 1.11, and how would you install it? I would have to do before root? This tutorial was what I wanted, I did not find any.

I'm trying to follow the rooting instructions and have 2 questions:

1. I installed Titanium backup, but it does not work, because the Cube is not rooted. Therefore I cannot role back. Are there any other options to backup my current system?

2. Using Rockchip and the steps I've read on the internet, I cannot get a green square in Rockchip after connection of the Cube (see picture below). I've tried 2 different USD cables and installing drivers (although Windows does not let you, as the drivers provided seem to be older). How can I get it to turn green? I've tried it on 2 different PC's now. And is the FW and Boot ver correct (the latest)?:

When you get a pink square with Rockship, simply click on the bonton "SWITCH" so that it turns green then flash to fill your tablet.

Ecuse my English but I am French and I went through a translator.

Hoping that my advice could have helped you ....

Somehow this tricked worked. Although pressing "switch" did not solve the issue in the first place, suddenly I was able to install the drivers. I've now rooted my Cube and am very happy with the result. I've only got a alert from my antivirus on the "SuperSU", that is is adware.

Thanks all for your help

If you are referring to SuperSU application installed in the system, my point of view is that your antivirus is giving you a "false alarm". SuperSU is a very serious program from recognized developer Chainfire, check the application page on Google Play Store, you'll see it has a lot of good reviews.

The only risk with root and SuperSU is that you allow (thru SuperSU authorization system) rights to a malicious application that could damage your system. To limit this kind of issue, always install applications from known places such as Google Play Store, read the users ratings and comments.

Cheers.

Is it my impression or is the internal flash/NAND of the Cube extremely slow? I mean, if it is installing something and trying to open another application, it stalls totally. I have 2 Cubes and the problem is on both so I'm assuming it is not a problem with my particular Cube.

I have a DEC 2012 and a JAN 2013 Cube U30GT-H both with this firmware. Is there some kernel tweaks or something to improve the situation or is it just slow/flimsy hardware?

@admin: SuperSU seems to be OK then, although I do question the reason why AVG is stating this as a threat

@baszer: This is indeed tha latest version, as far as I could find on the internet

@hureya: I used this instruction, which is pretty complete (although did not mention the pink square part in Rockchip tooling): http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/flashing-arnova-g2-rockchip-2918-rockchip-flashing-tool/

@p5yc0: I have a Cube tablet from februari, which does not have the issue you are describing. Both with the original firmware and this firmware, I have no issues.

I have just posted firmware update 1.01 (dated 2013/02/25) designed for the Cube U30GT-HS, it apparently works fine on the Cube U30GT-H too.

Cheers.
