I gave up with the Camera long ago and it matches the comments in the reviews as utter crap.

use another usb cable, and the ports from the back of the pc unit (native ports)

The following users say thank you to globula_neagra for this useful post:

thanks globula_neagra , another usb port did the trick.

But is my device now also rooted? Because when I open titanium backup it still asks for root rights.

Just released: Cube U30GT-H official firmware version 1.11    U30GT-H_V1.11_20121229.zip (2012/12/31)

Android 4.1.1 build: rk30sdk/rk30sdk/rk30sdk:4.1.1/JRO03H/eng.zhansb.20121128.094056:eng/opinions-on-teclast-p90hdst-keys

Linux Kernel: Linux version 3.0.8+ (zhansb@tchipServer03) (gcc version 4.4.3 (GCC) ) #302 SMP PREEMPT Thu Dec 27 21:02:20 CST 2012

Google Translation from Chinese on Cube version history mentions the following:

1, to optimize the system stability ;

2, to solve the problem of camera Huaping.

Here is our custom rooted firmware version of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based on official Cube version 1.11

Features:

- root with latest SuperSU version 0.99 (free version)

- writable /system partition

- removed most Chinese and unnecessary applications

- increased space for application (/data partition) to 2 Gb.

Rooted custom firmware for the CUBE U30GT-H: kasty-cube_u30gt_h-41-111-rooted2.zip

Using Rockchip Batch Tool version 1.5 to flash the firmware, works only on U30GT-H model.

Please report any problem with this firmware.

DUDE ...

You rock ! Thank you :)

I got myself a Cube U30GT-H from Etotalk and am un-experiences with Android tablets. Just wanted to ask your advice. The Cube looks decent, but it has some flaws (also compared to my iPad), being:

- Standby time is very short (max. 2 days)

- Wireless connection is lost after waking up from standby

- Chinese apps cannot be removed and some even have malware

- Some apps will not install or function correctly and report an error, saying that an official android version should be installed or something like that

I have no experience with rooting, but am pretty technical when it comes to windows, networking and NAS systems, so should be fine. Would it make sense to root my Cube, looking at the issues above?

Looking at the below picture, what version do you reckon I have? There is too much info for me there, to be able to determine this:

This is the malware app:

Based on your first screenshot the installed firmware version is 1.10

Flashing a rooted custom firmware will get you a clean system without most of the unnecessary and Chinese apps installed by default; also latest firmware 1.11 may also help with system stability.

Cheers.

You have the U30GT-H (the good model) with Android version 4.1.1 (Jelly Bean) with Cube firmware version 1.10 (not the latest which is 1.11)

I strongly suggest that you install the rooted firmware based on Cube's version 1.11 firmware from the first post of this topic.

In reply to your questions:

1. I do not notice standby times as I charge every night. Charge lasts all day even in full use.

2. This is an Android option. You can switch it off from the Wi-fi settings.

3. Use rooted firmware since the Chinese apps are in system folders.

4. Use rooted firmware.

It is pretty simple to root, just follow the instructions.

I have 2 Cube tablets and I do not regret having them rooted. The amount of control you have is just 'total' :)
