I used rockchip batch tool. I first made sure that the drivers where installed once so windows recognises it every time.

What  I do then is:

- Turn of the tablet

- Hold volume up

- While volume up also press power

- Windows will almost immediatly make a "something was plugged in" sound

- Release everything

- Screen is now totally black on tablet and that is ok

- Start Batch tool, it should now a green connection

For some reason this kind of booting does not work on my device.

If the USB cable is connected (a Samsung quality cable) Vol+ and Power On together (or Vol+ first, held down, and then Power On) does nothing (in 30+ seconds). If there is no USB cable connected, the above two option triggers after 10 seconds a quick flash of the bootup logo and it disappears and nothing happens afterall (inserting the USB cable leads to nothing from the PC side).

If I turn on the device normally and connect to the pc it does not ask for any driver, it appears in the hardware properties window as 2 Cube U30GT-W disk drives (in the main hardware window it is GT-H though) plus K: and L: portable devices and one USB mass storage device (my windows is not Eglish so I hope I found the adequate English expressions). No driver was needed for any of these, the standard Windows 7 drivers are in use.

If I run Rockchip Batch Tool, it shows one connected device but it is not green rather pink...

This special bootup method you suggested simply does not work for some reason.

I read this method as a suggestion for flashing the ROM from an SD card, but is doesn't work even with an SD card.

The only way I could get into the firmware update internal menu is inserting the SD card, and choosing YES when it askes automatically whether to install the update and after the automatic restart.

Then it goes to the menu (Android system recovery <3e> )with the green android figure with the belly opened :)

So what now?

well, after a series of copies it started to flash the device from the sd card,

i wish it didn't...

after completing it does not start again

I see the new boot logo, and the died android figure but nothing moves from this stage

I try to push Vol+ and Power On as BigBen said but no menu comes up only a pop from the speaker and black screen...

As mentioned for all you wanting to download from the official site the one Admin released 'IS THE EXACT SAME' version but rooted and Chinese apps removed.

For all you about flashing are you using the supplied usb cable or one with another product such as your phone?
If you are the solution is to go to a proper computer store and pay $10 for a certified usb2 cable.

Yes there is a difference between a prepackaged usb cable that would come with any device and one you actually pay for.

I know I went through 10-15 cables usb cables all did not work, (yes you read that right) from ones that came with expensive Samsung 3d glasses products to bought cheap on ebay and even the one that came with the tablet before I went out and paid for a entire new full set of usb cables that are certified to usb2 standards.

If you want to sit and try to tell us all how your cables that came with other products work but the tablet is faulty or somehow your tablet is unflashable then you can do that all you want but will not get anywhere and you might as well return the tablet saying faulty usb port when the next one will have the exact same issue, the solution is to buy a proper certified usb cable.

DO NOT try to get away and flash from sdcard as that has corruption on the tablet (Known Manufacturer Defect) and could potentially brick the tablet as many have found out as, I have seen 20 bricked tablets at least by this method.

And DO NOT try to get away with your current usb cables by trying to create scenarios where they will work there is a very big possibility you will brick your tablet or end up with a unstable android install as I have found out.

Don't be cheap, go and buy a proper certified cable from a proper shop not a Chinese eBay one, if you don't want to brick your tablet and then have to spend more than the cost of the cable you could have bought to send the tablet back for warranty.

Want to whine 'but I have no money', cant be bothered, your cables work on other devices etc, thats all good but your trying to create a scenario for yourself where you are trying to believe the cables are fine and pass the blame from the cables to the tablet.

You know all my 15 cables I chucked out worked on other products also in some way with varying results and sometimes they were uber slow to transfer stuff as they weren't to the proper certified usb2 cable standards.

You  dont have the Driver Loaded.

This special bootup method you suggested simply does not work for some reason.

Hold the Power and +Vol  from cold for some 10sec then you will be in the System  4.0 inslall mode.

Here is one and can be cheap and its a branded one and actually clicks in, has a bit longer USB plug

its a Motorola one part No. SKN6238A  has a white label tag, the ones with the Black label must be fakes, many hits on Google for it.

Funny thing that the CWM  way does the Rom install from the ST card.

CWM is 3rd party and its a known manufacturer hardware fault the sdcard corruption for these cubes which means any sdcard use can be a issue regardless if its the best user fan made recovery mode etc.

If that how CWM does there updates its up to them but remember there 3rd party and building for multiple devices like 50+ devices, and not 1 specific device and is the cube a officially supported and listed cwm device or is it ported by someone another android community developer, take that into account also, and they are also general consumers doing this and not the manufactures themselves.

I copied and backed up files that came prepacked and got 100 folders and files of %$% and had to find and download that girls generation vid online cause it was corrupt as well as allot of other stuff and this was from the stock rom that was installed when I got the device in the first hour of use.

Only people that might be able to fix the corruption is the actual manufactures themselves and if its bad physical hardware design then all they can do is fix it for a new revision of the tablet and no-one currently with the tablet can get it fixed if thats the case if its software then the kernal for the sdcard could be patched by the manufacturer.

Also on the cables any prepacked ones are usually built just to meet the device they are shipped with not to meet the standards of every device out there.

I know cause my $150 top of the line Samsung 3D glasses for my tv the cable on that wouldn't do data on my phone and another cable I had from my TV PS51-D6900 with its glasses wouldn't charge the phone etc etc.

This is why products you buy tell you to only use the supplied cable on there device because its built to cost and to just meet the standards of the device its supplied with and not designed for every other usb device, as then there would be no reason to sell proper after market certified cables.

Do you think every product you buy would be supplying you a $10-$15+ certified USB2 cable? nope they usually supply you with one worth about $5 or less and isn't properly rated and certified for all usb devices.

We all know with the power supplies for these things not being properly designed to meet standards and the fact the cube came with a crappy usb cable its the same regardless of company, Samsung, Motorola etc even Apple probably gives a lower quality cable as stock as there cables are expensive aftermarket, this is usually why you buy a proper aftermarket cable regardless unless you own Apple.

And don't get me started on the FREE cable as gift when you buy from ebay as they are usually the $1 each usb2 cables and are totally crap.

Only get a cable its its a proper certified cable its worth it all my cables I bought to replace my set due to this tablet and finding they were crap, work on everything, my phone, 3d glasses, this tablet etc regardless of device, I bought 4 cables, 3 lower cost and 1 higher cost one. about $7-$13au each. Actually not too expensive but well worth it.

Unfortunately here is my current status on firmware update:

1. Did it from SD card, seemed to work fine, but after the reboot the dead android came up...

2. Now if I turn on (with or W/o pressing ol+ at the same time) the device starts to boot, I see the new green logo

3. After the logo the dead android comes

4. If I pluc it to my PC (64 bit W7) (or to my notebook which is 32 bit Win7) using presumably good cables (one samsung qualified data cable or another Foxconn quality cable) Windows detects the hardware

5. I installed the driver manually ("have disk", chosing RK30 device) it installs the driver, but says "Error: the device cannot be started")

6. None of the tools (RKAndroidTool, RKBatchTool_1.5) I found does anything since they dont detect the device.

pls advise what do do from this point...

(other than look for "another" good qualified cable which I am doing)

I copy my post from topic

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/cube-u30gt/cube-u30gt-doesnt-start-disassambling-to-unbrick-the-tablet/

here too, maybe someone can find useful information in it

finally with the help of venz0ja i could make it work

thanks to this guy who spent 2 hours of his spare time trying to help me

Here it is, how we succeeded:

What we tried and did not work:

changing cables, usb ports, drivers, even computers, etc.

the driver simply did not start on the pc (gave: error 10) so no RK Batch tool or other software from the PC side could help

the reason: the tablet did not go into firmware dowload mode (or whatever it is called) by pressing volume up + power on buttons for several seconds (and giving a black screen) instead of this it always booted and failed to boot so the dead android came up

could not fix this not even with the endless efforts :) of venz0ja

BUT finally he found a hint how to get into the tablet's menu

so what worked is:

seeing the dead android and pressing shortly volume up + power on buttons at this stage (everybody was talking about pressing them for long) took me into the the tablet's internal menu and I could overwrite the firmware from an sd card, after which the driver started to work, and RK Batch Tool helped me to upgrade the firmware to the custom one released under topic http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/cube-u30gt/cube-u30gt-h-firmware-update-1-07-2012-09-25-just-released/

so finally it worked, except for one thing (the main issue I started this whole week's nightmare) the tablet is not rooted :)

(root checker say no, and I don't see the ad hoc wifi networks ) although with the above firmware it should be

thanks again for the great help for venz0ja and everyone who gave advices

as I have been looking on 51cube.com nearly every day, I no that the Russians are great Hackers.

Sorry for that, that is what I meant, but the Russian site gave me the info, and I then checked 51cube.com

The Russians has a Rooted 1.08 Beta version, but I never saw it on 51cube.com
