I'm just wondering if I have a battery problem. My cube turns itself off before the battery life reaches 0 (I would say at around 20%). Also when its first charged it lasts a long time the percentage drops really slow. When it reaches about 40% it goes down really quick.
My cube is rooted and I'm running build 1.07 (Katsy Cube). When 108 comes out I'll try that, but it also did it in build 106 so I don't think this is the problem.
Also as I'm changing firmwares a lot I don't suppose anyone knows if there is a way to backup my apps and screen settings without the need to reinstall everything?? I haven't looked into it but I'll see if there's an app, or even drag and drop into windows... but if anyone knows it's be much appreciated.
I had a similar issue and this has been confirmed by quite a few Cube owners, in our local forum.
Personally, I had around 4 hours of usage from 100% to 50% battery but from 50% to 0% I only had 1 hour. So I had 5 hours in total, but the ratio before and after 50% was 4:1. This was the fact on my 16GB Cube U30GT.
After a while I bought a new Cube 32GB and gifted the old one to my girlfriend. The new Cube manifested a significantly different behavior. I still have 4 hours up to 50% but I have another 3 hours after the 50% mark. So not only the total battery time jumped from 5 hours to 7 hours, but consequently the ratio changed from 4:1 to 4:3 which is quite normal. Batteries do tend to discharge faster towards the end of their charge.
I may be jumping to conclusions here, but I believe that the first batches of the Cube tablets had various issues, battery longevity/quality included. It will be nice if we see some replacement batteries being sold, so I can change the batteries of my first tablet.
The above observations were made on same workloads and the same rom version (1.07 as yours).
As for your backup question, Titanium Backup Pro (paid) version will do the trick. I did a Titanium Backup of my 16GB Cube and restored it on my 32GB Cube. I was astonished to see everything restored in place. Even the program icons on the home screen were there. Still my Where's my Perry/Water saves did not make it, so it is advisable that you keep a backup of all three android storage places (program storage, internal storage, external storage) on your PC as well.

Thanks I've seen Titanium backup mentioned before so I'll try that. I have a 32gb 10.1" model. I don't think its an early one as its only a month old and came with Jelly Bean installed... but it's from China so who knows??
Does your battery go all the way down to 0%? Mine cuts off at around 20% but when I plug it back in to charge it reboots at 1% (which is very odd). Anyway basically I don't believe a word of the battery %. I've read somewhere something about the cube batteries wired in series instead of parallel (if you remember your school electronic days). I'm not sure if this makes a difference or even if its true (its in dispute on the forum).
I have seen cube batteries advertised on ebay
If it disappears search for u9gt2 battery. However I'm a bit reluctant to take it apart (I'm not even 100% a new battery would help). If someone could confirm if a new battery would solve the problem please let me know.
Thanks for your help.
Don't mention it mate! This forum has helped me a great deal and I just want to give back whatever I can. We Cube owners, should all help each other, however we can.
Now regarding the battery replacement from ebay, it's good news to hear that these things are appearing for sale, but I'd still advise caution, since this battery pack is meant for use with the U9GT2 Cube and not the U30GT. From what I can see in this disassembly guide, the U30GT batteries do look different as well.
I studied the battery life on my 32GB more thoroughly and yes it switches off close to 0% (more like 4%) from what we can see from the graph below (the graph is courtesy of Battery Monitor Widget).
You can also use this app and monitor your battery life for comparison. As you can see above, there's a steeper discharge curve after the 50% mark, but still lasted a good deal (red line=discharge). It's also interesting that a full charge (green line) lasts three hours. My old Cube was also switching off well below the 10% mark, but I did not study it that close.
You may very well have a calibration issue. You can use this app and try to fix it.
Some people say it's a myth, others say it works, so you decide what path you choose to follow.
i`ve got a 16gb version and battery behaviour is one of the biggest points of annoyance for me.
battery calibration can`t work on our device sind there is no capacity level readable for those apps.
Also the battery is always very cold. 0,0 celsius is always reported
I don`t know how our device itself measures the battery level but I found it to be very unprecise which you can easily check yourself
Use it until you reach about 45% are left ....now just reboot...nothing else or more
Very often i`d say 3 out of 4 times then I had over 55% of battery level :
I guess it`s because of the double accu pack used inside of our cube. Next time I won`t buy a tab with 2 accus.
I've got a Cube U30GT-H with version 1.11 from this forum running on it and wireless turned on during sleep (due to loosing connection after sleep with wifi). The tablet can stay in sleep mode for 2 days, after which it needs recharging. Is this normal behaviour? My iPad only needs recharging every 2 weeks and than I use it pretty often. Or do I have incorrect settings or are there tips and trick to expand battery life?
From what i have seen on the rockchip tablets there is a problem with the so called "deep sleep" which is a state of the tablet when it uses very little power.
With my Archos Cobalt i get around 5 days of standby (i don`t use at all), and to make a comparison, with the Arnova 7cg3 with a qualcomm processor i get 2-3 weeks, with the gsm network on.
Tough 2 days is very little, you should check maybe you have some apps in background some apps that keep your tablet on.
Eventually try another firmware and do some comparison.
