Here is a custom rooted firmware version of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean based on official version 1.06
Features:
- root with latest SuperSU 0.99 (free version)
- writable /system partition
- removed most Chinese and unnecessary applications
- increased space for application (/data partition) to 2 Gb.
- updated busybox to version 1.20.2-cm9
- update busybox to version 1.20.2-cm9
- included [[** please register to see this link **]] (a 5-row keyboard using full PC key layout) as latest Cube update had regular non Chinese keyboard removed
Rooted custom firmware for the CUBE U23GT: [[** please register to see this link **]]
Using [[** please register to see this link **]] version 1.5 to flash the firmware.
Please report any problem with this firmware, I can't verify this custom firmware works as I don't have a Cube U23GT to test it.

I tried to flash the firmware , it boots , try to open SuperSu, an error apears it says it got to update so i turn on wifi and an error apear it says unfortunately. Android keyboard (AOSP) has stopped it keeps poping up every time i try to use the keyboard so i go and freze Android Keyboard with Titanium Backup and install Swype , no problem after that, anybody else with this problem?

I'll try flashing it too. I got the 1.05 rooted firmware from here and it works fine, so I guess 1.06 should work fine too. Many thanks for the great job!

A bit of warning following foox2k message. It looks like Cube has removed non Chinese virtual keyboard on some firmwares. It is the case on latest Cube U30GT-MINI and latest U23GT firmwares. I have replaced the missing APK with one from an earlier firmware, but it doesn't seem to be working well, as foox2k reported some errors related to the keyboard. I'm currently having a look at this issue, will keep you updated.

I confirm the Android keyboard problem as well. I tried the firmware this evening, and Android keyboard keeps on crashing. Cannot comment on anything else, except that I've done a full clean using RESTORE option, and worked Ok, less the keyboard problem.

Just try to install another virtual keyboard like swype and set it as your custom virtual keyboard, i also freeze the original android keyboard with titanium backup, it seems to work fine now.

I have reflashed to 4.0.4 and installed some free keyboard. Now I make the update to 4.1, and see if it works. Thanks for the advice. BTW, why do you need to freeze the original keyboard with Titanium backup?
UPDATE: I have upgraded to 4.1 but it did not keep the keyboad app which I installed previously, so I cannot enter my password for my WiFi. Any … suggestions?

I have rebuilt a custom firmware with [[** please register to see this link **]] as default keyboard, since Cube latest firmware doesn't have one.

I am speachless. I was just gonna retry an upgrade flash, but now I will try your new firmware ASAP. I'll keep you posted.

Nice Rom but I was wondering if there was anyway to incorporate some tweaks like maybe a CyanogenMod Build or to use some of their tablet tweaks? or maybe a MIUI Build Rom? I would try to do it myself but I really dont know what im doing lol
I like this rom and appreciate it very much though… Didnt mean to sound ungrateful just would like to try more options on this device

PS – I also tweaked the build.prop with Rom Toolbox Lite with the following settings:
wifi.supplicant_scan_interval – I changed from 15 to 180
And I tweaked the CPU Control with Rom Toolbox Lite with the following settings:
I slid the max down to 1200mhz
CPU settings not sticking :/
I have been getting really good battery life with the wifi change though!

Well, the general rule is not to upgrade when everything is working fine 
Maybe just wait for next release or the following if there are interesting items for you in the release changelog for the new versions.

hello guys, I brick my tablet, cube u23gt, during the flash appear IDB Download Fail…I'm desperate, i now for the u30gt it's easy to unbrick the tablet, is sufficient to connect two contacts, but these are different of my u23gt…I disassembled it, but I do not know what to do, what are the contacts you want to merge for the maskrom mode??? please help me..
