I received U18gts tablet (btw: what is the difference compared with U18GT2? Which one is newer?) few days ago and have this problem from the beginning:
when wifi is turned on (if it is off then this problem does not exist) and when tables is put to dormant state it reboots on its own after few minutes (actually this always happens after 2 minutes 43 seconds after tablet is put to sleep - i.e.: short press of power on/off button ). And this happens constantly.
Has anyone experience the same problem with this tablet or with GT2? Since this look to me more like a software issue, can anyone propose some kind of solution for this?
Because more people have received a Gt2 before, I have a feeling the GTS might be newer. I have them both here, but they seem to be quite the same.
Can I ask you which version your firmware is?
My touchscreen isn't working anymore, so I might need the latest version of the firmware. Hopefully we can help eachother out.
Here someone gives an insight of the two tablets
They seem to be very similar with minimal difference in the hardware config
it is worth trying to flash a firmware from both, to see which one solves the problems.
my firmware version is currently the latest one, i.e.: 1.03 (@Nevorna - Btw : have you updated your tablet with correct firmware, since download archive on Cube page contains also GT2 firmware and afaik, firmwares for these tables are not interchangeable... ).
With shipped firmware version also my tablet touch response was not the best, so I updated it to 1.03 (but I am not 100% sure, but I think that reboot problem existed also with shipped firmware version).
After several days of mailing with Cube reseller support, they said that there should be new firmware version available in the "near" future, however of course they did not stated that this problem will be fixed But let's hope for the best
At first, I tried to update with U18GT2 rooted firmware, as the internals seem to be the same. I bought it for a friend, which had to leave and I had the U18GT2 firmware handy. I thought it would be easy to flash a U18GTS firmware to fix it if it went wrong.
The U18GT2 firmware started, but without the touchscreen. I flashed the U18GTS firmware, and it still didn't work. My U18GT2 has a black border around the touchscreen, and the U18GTS has a white border. Do you have a black or white border?
It is strange that this U18GTS-firmware isn't working.
Well, it one of you has root, we can make a dump and at least fix Nevorna tablet
Nevorna, "my" tablet is the same as on the Cube-tablet link (http://www.cube-tablet.com/u18gt-dual-core-elite-android-4-0-rk3066-hdmi-tablet-pc.html) - so right around the screen is black border and around that white.
I know that this is a silly question and that I already asked you once about this, but did you really use correct firmware from the archive downloaded, i.e.: "u18gt-s_v1.03_20130228.img"? I am asking you this since I almost accidentally flashed this tablet with GT2 firmware (i.e.: U18GT2_V1.06_20130106) from the same archive, before realizing that also GTS version exists...
I presume that I could do the dump if that would help to resolve your issue, however I have two small problems:
1) I actually bought this tablet for a friend (as so I do not have it currently at the glance of my hand)
2) it is not rooted
So, maybe if anyone else could do it... Otherwise I could do it (not sure yet how to root it, however in any case I saw in some other thread here that rooted gts firmware should be available soon and if not before I can do it then - since as I said tablet is not mine, so I do not have "unlimited" amount of time to play with )
"Make a dump" - what is needed here to be done?
Thanks for your reaction.
Concerning the looks. My U18GTS has a white border, instead of a black border, which I find strange. If I'm the only one, maybe they repaired it with a less compatible touch screen, and then would probably mean that that's the problem. (just thinking..)
It's understandable that you ask this question, but I actually used that firmware you noted. I have tried several things, even extracted the kernel from that image to flash that seperately. Nothing worked.
About the dump, I have no idea if it will work. globula_neagra suggested a dump, but I myself have no idea if it will help.
My versions :
Shell : 3.0.8+ SMP PREEMPT 2013-03-07 15:44:48 4:09
Build V1.04 20130306
Maybe I could help? I have understand that someone would like a dump? What is it? is it really a good idea to flash an U18GT-S with the V1.04 although it reboots every 5 minutes?
Yes, that is correct 1.04 is not a version that is officially downloadable, right? So this might be the solution to my problem, and else it could be helpful for others as well.
It can at least provide me with the drivers that should work, so even if it would have problems restarting, that can be fixed later on.
To make one, we should ask globula_neagra to assist, because I have no idea.
globula_neagra, can you explain how this could be done?
You need root to dump the partitions via ADB SHELL or use this method with a slight different pack compiled
