Hi Oma,

tried to flash that rom, but no success :-(

RKAndroidtool says:

Info: Start to Run

...

Checking Download data,..

Error: Download file failed

Error: Run failed

Any solutions?
should i do something else than mentioned in the included installinstructions?

I changed the the kernel,
unticked the loader and pressed run.

I did not select EraseIDB - could this be a Problem?

EraseIDB is mandatory.

Hi Oma,

thanks for the reply,
flashed once again with "erase idb" but still the same error :-(

Seems like this rom isn't suitable for the tolino tab.

O.k., after bad flash, i booted into cwm and tried to restore my previous backup,

cwm gives the following messages:
Can't mount /cache/recovery/log
Can't read /cache/recovery/log...
Restoring system...
Error while restoring /system!
e: Can't mount /sdcard

Could this be the problem?
Maybe you have a clue, what could be the problem..

Thanks in advance

Same over here: Restore fails in CWM Recovery (given MD5 hashes are okay)
Neither I cannot get into the bootloader mode for re-flashing using the known to be working 4.2.2 ROM.

The partition layout on the NAND is different. So CWM restore must fail. EraseIDB will wipe the layout.

Keep trying to start the tab into flash-mode.

my tab starts only in the bootloader, no Screen, no other boot, no cwm.
Tried to flash the 4.2.2 Rom but always get the error:

Error: Download file failed
Error: Run failed

also tried with RK-Dev-Tool to flash the loader or erase idb and all blocks,
but only get the error "failed".
In RKAndroidtool i can erase idb, but after boot still the same - no booting, no startscreen, no Screen at all,

only starting in bootloader-Mode.

Looks like the tab is bricked Cry

You cannot brick (no access to the 2nd or 1st stage bootloader) a Rockchip tab.

What we see here is most likely a defective NAND.

Try again to refresh with RKDevelopTool. Use an other USB port and an other USB cable. Make sure the tab is on the charger.

For reference how I managed to get back to the 4.2.2 state:

* load into CWM Recovery
* USB connect to PC
=> Tab is recognized as ADB device
* cmd: adb reboot bootloader
=> Tab is recognized in flash mode

Now I was able to EraseIDB and eventually flash the 4.2.2 ROM successfully.

No idea why the Tab refused to load into (proper) bootloader/flash mode using the hardware keys.
Still wondering why the OmniROM 4.4.4 ROM doesn't work with the 4.2.2 kernel as proposed here ...

It could have something to do with the unique wifi chipset of the Tolino board.  In which case it should be possible to edit the OmniRom and add support for it.

What do you say Oma?

It should work as described in post #46. Are there different hardware revisions? Tolino has 16 GB NAND? Is there still JB running on the tab?

Most problems are usb driver related. Best is to use win7. Do not use an usb3.0 port. In the folder there is a driver assitant. De-install driver first, then install again. Use the usb-cable coming with the tab.

There are no different HW revs. Indeed 16GB NAND. Running with JB.

I don't think that's being the cause since flashing the Recovery or - as I did - flashing your custom 4.2.2 build wouln't have worked either.

When trying to flash the Omni ROM tried serveral permuation like 1st flash the stock recovery, then the others minus the system.img and the system.img at last.
It breaks down to the fact that when you try flashing the system.img at last, it fails with obove posted output - despite using EraseIDB several times.
Could it be some kind of partition discrepancy? Does it need some kind of NAND fix flashed in preparation before flashing the system.img perhaps?

EraseIDB will wipe the partition layout on the NAND. The parameter file defines the new partition layout. Fail could mean the sizes doesn't fit or there are defects on the NAND or there is something hidden at the end of your NAND.

Can you pls check with this two parameter files:

Unzip and load into RKAndroidTool (klick on empty box at the end of the line). Flash incl. eraseIDB.

You mean just flash Omni with one of those two parameter files? Regular instructions for installing Omni just use one of those files?

Yes. Point one of the instructions is not necessary.
