Now the device manager shows the ADB drivers but there isn't still found a device at RKAndroidTool. Is there any other way to flash the image?

No other way. Win8 is always tricky. Better would be Win7.

Use the DriverInstaller and de-install the driver first.

In the Device Manager the ADB Interface displayed as HTC Dream. (?) But the tool can't find the device. Otherwise I will install Windows 7/XP. I had never such problems with RK devices... :-/

Hi Oma,

thanks for your great work. :) But I have a big problem. I can't boot into the bootloader, at least it shows only a black screen. Then I plug in the cable I hear a sound from my notebook but nothing more. Windows 8 device manager shows an unknown device. :( Moreover RKAndroidTool can't find a device.

Image Enlarger

at this point try installing the flash driver manually
then try again to into bootloader

Build is on 160dpi, so maybe fonts are too small.

Native should be 240 dpi. Here is a fix (install via CWM): http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?wpfb_dl=1851

On android-hilfe.de someone flashed this successfully on his device

Since this 4.2.2 is there a Rom with 4.4 for this device?

Hi Oma,

big thanks for releasing the first custom rom for the tolino tab 8.9!
(Yeah, you are the first and at the moment the only one!!!)

I successfully flashed your rom and after doing some perfomance changes i'm very happy :)

the Changes are:
- altering the dpi in build.prop to 240dpi
- changed the govenor to performance
- SD Boost to 512
- entropy set to 128
- changed the launcher (nova prime)

The ROM is much more snappier than the original one,
untill now absolutly stable and further on the battery life is really good.

Absolute great work!!!
Big big thanks!!!

Yeah, this was really hard work. A lot of "security" mechanism in this stock firmware ;-)

Compiling the wifi system is the critical path.

Broadcom AP6476 wifi is very untipical for a rk31board. So, for the moment no KitKat. However, we will see ...

I'de some problems installing the image and now the tab seams to be bricked :-(

root access was available, CMW6 installed,
downloaded ROM image and startet RKAndroidTool
After some trials the state changed to "Found RKAndroid Loader Rock Usb" (but now info on the tab - only a black screen)

Because of the different trials I forgot to remove the Loader tick and clicked on "Run"

I got:

INFO: Start to run
INFO: Start to test device
INFO: Test device OK
INFO: Start to download file
INFO: Start to download files to flash
INFO: Flash Start to download file to flash
INFO: Writing data to flash,Size (630326)K,Written (630326)K
INFO: Start to check download data
Error: Download file failed
Error: Run failed

But now I can't start the device in normal mode.
If I unplug USB and plug in again the tool always find the device

Is there a way to reset? Please help!

Hm, could be a corrupted NAND. Use this tool  http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?wpfb_dl=1631#
first to start the tab in mask-rom mode. Flash the v1.24 loader according to included instructions.

Is there a way to correct the "wrong" flash size?

First I startet the update process the log said

16:13:24 141    Flash Chip Information:
16:13:24 143    NO        SIZE(MB)    Manufacturer
16:13:24 148    ----------------------------------------------
16:13:24 152    0        14910MB    SAMSUNG
16:13:24 154    ----------------------------------------------

Now the tool always said

16:39:41 623    Flash Chip Information:
16:39:41 623    NO        SIZE(MB)    Manufacturer
16:39:41 623    ----------------------------------------------
16:39:41 638    0        1447867MB    SAMSUNG
