Radxa no luck with this flavor, has anyone else had any luck?  Loading and running version 1.3.1 first to ensure loader, then erase EDIB and then install.  There is an immediate failure.

@cappybob

Hello CB, I have just managed to boot Oma's Omni 1.4 on the Radxa (full). It took me most of the day, but it is running. I resorted to linux upgrade_tool v. 1.21. Using the command upgrade_tool ef /path_to_gen1_bootloader reflashed the rock in maskrom mode. This then enabled me to flash the 4.4.2 parameter and then then omni partition, also from linux with sudo ./upgarde_tool -p (then -b, -k, -m, r, -s) /path_to_each_image_in_turn.

Omni is there and lovely but unusable because...

@Oma7144

The problem is the same as I had with your initial build of Kitkat for radxa, way back last year: every 2 -3 seconds the display cuts out for about 2 - 3 seconds. I am pretty sure this is kernel related. I am using the non-selinux kernel from the rom post on CrewRK: RK31_kernel_3036_box_rock_76_radxa. I have tried various of Tom's built from source, but they just hang at boot.

Any ideas?

By the way, I didn't have this on your more recent proper kitkat build using Tom's source with gen2 bootloader, same setup.

Pretty much the same process for me, even loading program starting from maskrom.  Have you seen CWM to add the 160 DPI fix if you are seeing an UI error on loop.  I looked for an original kernel build from the Githubs w/o Selinux and found none, but I think this is the 76_Radxa we are using is the only one.  Have built the 3.0.101 kernel from Naoki-san before, this might work if not selinux (Can't remember).  Noticed one thing and that the Omni builds with the 1.20 bootloader and the image in v1.37 build it uses a 1.24, but I have not seen this to ever cause a problem.  The earlier OMNI is SWEET, but the Multi-windows is next level.  Will continue to play, I am sure it's a simple fix (Seems to be) not much changed from 1.3.1 to 1.4.

Yes, I have flashed the 160 DPI fix in CWM. I tried different power supplier (Nexus 7 2A, a 2.5A too), different HDMI cables, different displays (HD monitor, TVs), nothing makes a difference. It starts cutting out from the penguins, and continues during the boot animation and while running Omni, even in CWM.

Are you not seeing this, cappybob? I only ever had this with 2 out of 3 of the OMA ROMs I tried on my Radxa Rock. The What am I missing?? Perhaps something squiffy with the boot loader then, as you mention.

@estebang

Have ran into this before, I am experiencing much the same issue.  THE problem HAS NOT been the release from the RK Crew, but I believe that it is a Radxa Nand issue.  Not a programmer, engineer, or developer here, but it seems that the 2 layer nand (2048-4096) seems to be the issue.  I will attempt to erase nand physically (Pin-short) to mask rom. but not sure if this is a cure.  There is a nand format layer which I believe is being corrupted some way by not being addressed in the formatting.  I had this exact issue before and stumbled on to a fix, but paid it no mind.

OK, good to know its not just me then. If the fix occurs to you, do let us know!

One thing I noticed, CWM said that the misc partition was not found - probably not related.

Will keep tinkering.

@ Estebang and Oma

Got it, like I said simple fix and not an RKCrew problem, me just being old, slow, and occasionally addled.  Works on Radxa with the 160 dpi fix and the PARAMETER  8G tablets change.  Now to figure out how to get the multiwindows to be functional.

Dude, how is yours usable? I just flashed the kernel from Oma's KK build and CWM displays at a higher resolution and no flicker! But the thing won't boot Omni of course.

To be thinking about multiwindow you must have stable output on HDMI. How?? Losing more hair than I can afford here...

Cheers.

@ estebang

Went into Linux RKFlash Kit and noticed that after flash-no parameter.  When loaded existing parameter found that the parameter was invalid in upgrade tool.  AHAA this happened before, bad parameter.  http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?wpfb_dl=1804   change before flash and with 160dpi fix should be good.  One other thing is that I did an upgrade.img load using the batch file load tool in windows (update.image), to address the ALL changes I made to the flash.  http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?wpfb_dl=1804

Be here for awhile cappybob

@cappybob

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried the 8GB parameter file and have the same result as with the previous radxa build parameter file. I can flash and boot Omni, but the screen flickers regardless. Did you mean to link the 8GB parameter file twice in your last post, or to something else?

Thanks again for your tips, its much appreciated. Will have to call it a day for now, but will pick it up again soon as...

Cheers

The double entry was that the first link didn't get you to the download.  I went through the process again and download is fine with the new parameter.  I have found that the nand can get junked up, so I always now flash an update.img with the UPDATE batchtools in windows.  Just to rebuild the nand to a workable image.  Then go back to the RKCrew loader with the parameter change (change name to parameter remove the 8g).  The load time is a long one for OMNI about 5-7 mins.  If you get our wagging eared android, your there just get a beer or coffee and wait abit.  My Linux computer is tied up right now, until tomorrow.  Multiwindows is working thanks again--OMA the great.
