Gents,

There is a new hardware revision of the Chuwi V17HD in the field.
Chuwi did not announce that, so let’s call it 3rd generation ;-)

You can identify 3rd gen tabs by Serial-Numbers starting with Q8G1141100214.
Check also if the running kernel is #814 or #848 (see settings/about the tab).

Update 29.01.2015: if the running kernel is #613 pls see here.

Do NOT flash this firmware or kernel into Chuwi V17HD 1st gen or 2nd gen!

V17HD 3rd gen by Oma KitKat build v1.0

full Google Apps and Play Store support
– stock 4.4.0 recovery, CWM 6.0.3.1 recovery
– system ext4
– selinux kernel #848 preempt 26. Nov 2014.
– internal storage 2,0 GB
– device spoofed as Nexus 7
– ethernet support
– init.d support
– gameloft compatible
– USB-Hub enabled
– gamepad compatible (PS2, XBox, …)
– kernel modules (cifs, tun, lan, serial, audio)
– latest hosts, su, su-binary, busybox
– Reboot Menue, sEFix, FX Sound
– Dateimanager HD (Root)
– Nova Launcher

add on to increase internal storage to 4 GB and swapp mounts; external sdcard is mandatory;
must be choosen before flashing, see included instructions

kernel #814 may be improves touchscreen sensibility and brightness settings on some tabs;
one can flash the kernel separately by ticking parameter and kernel.

install via CWM:

fix to enable RTL (right-to-left) support; enable RTL in developer options before switching to
Hebrew, Arabian, ... language

fix red frame issue in Chrome

hints:
– to improve UI feeling: disable all animation scales in developer options,
use Nova launcher and set animation/scroll to “faster than light” and
enable Entropy Fixer with value 256

– battery drain > set keep wi-fi on during sleep to never
– full access to the build > enable /system rw in File Manager HD
– don’t show su notifications > disable in Superuser
– to prettify the build use Xposed Framework > Starter Pack
– to enable multi-user use the Xposed module Multi User

Flash instructions are included in the download pack.
>>> flash-modus on this tab: hold power and vol+ or just click Switch in RKAndroidTool
>>> pls make sure to click eraseIDB first in RKAndroidTool.

- use of CWM: wipe up/down to scroll – power to execute – wipe right to go back ... or keys

Be aware: it is your own risk!

Below Q8G141100214 it shoud be 2nd gen. Use this build: http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/crewrktablets-rk3188-entwicklung-customroms-development-croms/rom-chuwi-v17hd-2nd-generation-android-4-4-2-kitkat-custom-root-firmware-20140921/

´now i successfully install gen 2nd. Reason why i get your rom, was that the stock rom said fulltime that programs are stop. And sometimes device restart self. but now i install gen 2nd and it still says "google search stop" google play store stop", "browser stop". How this can be fixed?

Could be a defective NAND. Do a clean install incl. eraseIDB.

Ok, looks good. Stock recovery formats the user partitions.

After first boot pls only set up your wifi and then reboot the tab. Is it still set after reboot?

Hello, I received a V17HD Q8G1141001394 a week or so ago, looking through the forums I have flashed it with version posted and have a couple issues I cant for the life of me figure out.

First was I had crashes and freezes and resets so I looked and found this location and roms to fix it.  I have had Chuwi send me a link and that one did not work so this was my next attempt.  I have tried the V1 V2 and now the V3 roms.

V1 - booted but did not work quite right, it did weird things like not have location services, freeze when using keyboard etc.

V2 - Black screen after boot.

V3 - Boots and seems to work with one weird exception.  The screen is upside down but the controls are in the right place.  its like the image is mirror imaged and the touch points are where they are supposed to be.

In all 3 the USB charger does not work at all.  I can plug it in a wall charger or computer and neither one is recognized as charging.  It was in one update charging from Chuwi but that rom would crash and freeze as well so having it charge was great but unusable.

Any help would be appreciated at this time as frustration over this is getting to an all time high

Sounds more like a hardware issue. Does the tab have a HDMI port?

No HDMI has a +Vol and -Vol button right in line witht he TF card slot (which is just a little bit on th eback of the casing on th esame side as the reset button. Charges with the adapter fine.  Weird it worked UISB c hargin one time now it wont, but I coule live with that being figured out after if I could just get the darn thing to be right side up.
