Well we did some test builds for rk31board two months ago: http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?p=4316

The V17HD is still in production, so maybe we have luck and get a LP from Chuwi ;-)

Hi, I just got one of these.

Serial number is Q8G1141200424 and kernel version is 3.0.36+ root@xingyu-desktop #814

Do I have a 2nd generation or a 3rd?

Also mine has 8GB internal memory. Will capacity decrease after flashing to 4GB or 2GB as you indicate in the description?

Thanks

Hi,

thanks for the quick reply. What do you mean "increased to 2GB"? Now it has 8. Will it go down to 2? Is there anyway to keep the 8GB?

I just got my Chuwi V17HD yesterday. From what I've tested so far, it's a real good deal for the money spent.

Now I'd like to try the custom rom provided here. Increasing the NAND seems a good idea, and overall it's easier to get rid of the chinese apps this way, at least I think it's "cleaner" than using root uninstaller.

I am a little bit confused what firmware to flash. I don't have a HDMI-out, so it's a 2nd or 3rd gen. The serial on the package says V17HDQ8G1141201573. In Settings/About/Status it says a different serial, as you can see in the 2nd picture. There it's RLNE50YGE3.

What does the date under the Kernel revision say? Is that the date the kernel was compiled? If yes, than the already installed kernel is newer than the one included in the custom rom here, I think. Should I still update? The rom for what generation should I use?

Ahh, and in the included "Instructions.txt" with the firmware download, you flash the CWM in the 4th step, after flashing the new firmware in step 3. Is it possible that I skip step 3 and only install CWM and do a NAND backup with it before I flash the custom rom?

thanks for your help and efforts.

Bjoern

Edit: Ah, one last thing. When I install CWM, how to boot into it. As the tablet is missing hardware keys, what do I have to to during booting? Installing something like rom manager and booting into it wouldn't do the trick if I mess up the file system ;)

According to Serial Number this is 3rd gen. However, I see a faily new kernel (xingyu 613 preempt 18 Dec 2014) here. The kernel number indicates that this tab has 2nd gen hardware ...

Can you pls dump the firmware http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/crewrktablets-rk3188-entwicklung-customroms-development-croms/rk3188-root-and-dump-the-stock-firmware/ and upload it?

Thank you very much for your kind PMs.

The Rom for 2nd gen seems to work like a charm. I gained nearly 2k points in Antutu over stock firmware. The lager internal memory is really great and it's rooted now. Nice work, well done!

Ok, here is kernel #613: http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?wpfb_dl=2422

Build in post#1 works as is, or if one would like with kernel #613 (change in folder rockdev/Images before flash)

It seems to be that tabs with serial number Q8G11412xxxx come again with 2nd gen hardware. To be verified ...

... searching the threads I guess somewhere around Q8G1141200500 is the break.

3rd gen with kernel #814
Q8G1141200059
Q8G1141200085
Q8G1141200107
Q8G1141200258
Q8G1141200424
Q8G1141200505
Q8G1141200683

2nd gen again
Q8G1141200537
Q8G1141201457 - kernel #515
Q8G1141201573 - kernel #613
Q8G1141201671

If you need any more info on the hardware used (at least in my tablet), I'd be glad to help.

Maybe a little bit off-topic: I saw that some shops sell this tablet with 512MB RAM. Is this true that two versions exist, one with 512MB and the other with 1GB RAM? Or is this just a typo? Can someone confirm a 512MB version "in the wild"?
