Gents,
There is a new hardware revision of the Chuwi V17HD in the field.
Chuwi did not announce that, so let's call it 2nd generation
Hardware components are quite different from the 1st gen.
You can identify 2nd gen tabs by the missing HDMI port. Instead of this there are volume rockers.
Do NOT flash this firmware or kernel into Chuwi V17HD 1st gen!
We do have some confusion here ... read from post #24.Â
Â
Update Dec 2014: another undocumented hardware revision is in the field and can be identified
by Serial-Numbers starting with Q8G141100214. Pls use the 3rd gen build.
Â
V17HD 2nd gen by Oma KitKat build v1.1
– stock 4.4.0 recovery, CWM 6.0.3.1 recovery
– system ext4
– selinux kernel xingyu #515 preempt 03. Sep 14
– internal storage 2,0 GB
– device spoofed as Nexus 7
– ethernet support
– init.d support
– gameloft compatible
– USB-Hub enabled
– gamepad compatible (PS2, XBox, …)
– kernel modules (cifs, tun, lan, serial, audio)
– latest hosts, su, su-binary, busybox
– Reboot Menue, sEFix, FX Sound
– Dateimanager HD (Root)
– Nova Launcher
– full gapps support
add on to increase internal storage to 4 GB and swapp mouts.
Â
hints:
– to improve UI feeling: disable all animation scales in developer options,
…use Nova launcher and set animation/scroll to “faster than light” and
…enable Entropy Fixer with value 256
– battery drain > set keep wi-fi on during sleep to never
– full access to the build > enable /system rw in File Manager HD
– don’t show su notifications > disable in Superuser
– to prettify the build use Xposed Framework > Starter Pack
– to enable multi-user use the Xposed module Multi User
Â
Flash instructions are included in the download pack.
>>> Pls make sure to execute eraseIDB first in RKAndroidTool.
- use of CWM: wipe up/down to scroll – Power to execute – wipe right to go back
Â
Be aware: it is your own risk!

Guys, I have had some trouble uploading the pack to our server. Maybe the download is not ok.
Re-upload is available under the link in post #1. Flash again incl. eraseIDB.
Try to start the tab into flash modus with the reset button (hope it is still there):
- long press reset
- hold vol up and press reset
- hold power on and press reset

Specs 2nd gen:
- Touchcontroller: ct69x (1st gen: icn85xx)
- Wifi: esp8089 (1st gen: nmc1000)
- Audio: es8323 (1st gen: rk616)
- Sensor: mxc6225 (1st gen: stk831x)
This is a complete different tab.
How is the screen? Is it still IPS (good viewing angles in any direction)?

Hallo Oma,
Â
I am new to this forum and I found you as I bought a Chuwi v17HD from tinydeals.
The problem is that I got the hardware button Version and my kernel is kernel xingyu #503!
Should I try flashing this ROM or will there be a problem you think?
I am asking because I see many people having problems with black screens and I am  little confused about what to do!
Â
Thank you for your help and your work!

Unfortunately I cannot test the build with the xingyu #503 kernel on my Chuwi 1st gen. The build in post #1 runs fine with my kernel. So, the risk is the kernel. When you have the same kernel it should work. But again, there is a risk. Maybe one should wait until Chuwi provides the stock firmware.
