Is there any test that I can run, or any logs that I can examine? I am happy to return to this ROM again to carry out those tests.

It seems really strange that DL speeds would be reduced by about 3mbps (still acceptable when the normal level is 20-25mbps), and UL speeds by nearly 7mbps (problematic when the normal level is about 7mbps), just by changing a ROM!

The kernel is exactly the same, and the wifi drivers also seem to be exactly the same, unless I am missing something somewhere ...

Works still fine on my tab. Not really an idea.

Do a clean install again and if the effect is still there change the wifi driver:

With the first one, no change. With the second one, far worse (UL speed of 0.0mbps). With the third one, slightly better (UL speed of 0.88mbps). So, still very far from okay. :-(

Now, here is a miracle. I made a CWM package containing the mt5931.ko driver from Kasty. After installing it, 0.0mbps UL speed. I switched off the device for 5 minutes, turned it on again, and everything is perfect.Surprised

I then compared the Kasty driver with the original Oma driver (using "cmp -b"). Of course, they are exactly the same, as expected. So what does one put all this down to?

Needless to say, none of this makes any sense. The device had been switched on and off overnight before, and the problems didn't disappear. What is different this time? Absolutely nothing, it seems.

Conclusion: the wifi is now functioning perfectly, and I don't know why. I also don't know why it was misbehaving before.ConfusedOne could easily become paranoid about this kind of nonsense. Perhaps "they" are out to get me ...

Hi Oma,

Any idea how compatible this ROM will be with the RK3188 9.7 clones from Xoro/Visture/Cube et al?  I noticed that it even uses the same MT5931 wifi chip.

thanks

You need a kernel with selinux on. Haven't seen such a kernel for the mentioned tabs, yet.

Possibly the Revolution kernel will work.

Almost! I flashed it and it boots up nicely but it appears as if the touch screen orientation is turned anti clockwise by 90 degrees and the scaling is out too.   With my tinkering I enabled the camera and the back camera worked (to my surprise), could not find the "button" to switch to the front camera though.

Not sure if the screen orientation is locked by default but turning the tablet does not affect the screen. We'll have wait for a kernel with selinux I guess ...............

Edit: Just to add some advise to people flashing this ROM. Make sure to unclick the BootLoader! I neglected to do it in one of my loads (when trying different options) and softbricked the tablet. The symptoms were the same as for a corrupted flash. A search on this site showed another member that had a similar experience with another ROM. Thanks to Oma's instructions in that thread I could reflash the bootloader following a proper erasure procedure and the tablet is back up and running. Was closeEmbarassed

Further on testing this ROM on the Cube U9GTV. I realized that I could use the USB port (with an OTG cable) to drive the cursor with a mouse, so I re-installed the ROM to do some further test.

Antutu score ~19600

Back Camera - fine. Front camera not accessable

Wifi - connect but download speed choked - 3Mb/s on a 25Mb/s connection. UL speed fine

Google Play store - fine

3G sensor appears to be disconnected from the screen orientation but no problem for me since it wakes up in landscape, which is how I have mounted the tablet. Only problem is when an app changes the orientation (e.g Antutu) it necessitates a re-boot.

As I mentioned before the touch screen is turned by 90 degrees.

Good news is that running the primary app; Tunein (while displaying photo frame sequences) there is no more rebooting. If anyone stumbles upon a selinux kernel for the U9GTV/Xoro/Visture tablet clones please post the link.

Hi I am trying to flash this image to my ceros. I can get into recovery mode by pressing the volume key & holding power for 5 seconds the releasing the keys but when following the instructions at step 2 in recovery mode and holding volume & power keys for 12 seconds the tablet switches off at around 8 seconds.

if I turn the tablet off, RKAndroid Tool recognizes a USB device but I am unable to connect in recovery mode using any of the 4 methods ie, usb, sd card, adp device. Can anyone shed any ideas to try

Thanks

Hi Oma

I just wanted to say thanks for this rom, I managed to get the firmware on to my ceros revolution and it has made a massive difference to usability.

I found this link which helped,

http://download.chinavasion.com/download/Others/ceros_rev_firmware_install_9470.pdf

once i got RKBatchTool.exe to recognize my device, i then followed your instructions using RKAndroidtool & RKDeveloper tool

Thanks again Cool

I was wondering if someone here has the same issue as me. This tablet spec is good but without OMA’s rom it was nothing. I am getting an AnTuTu score of over 19000 now whereas before it was in the mid 17000. It’s much faster than before and I am able to play HD videos on it with no stutter, however once I plug in the mini HDMI to watch on my TV, the screen stutter’s every few seconds. It does not make the video unwatchable but it is enough to irritate me to stop watching.

Is anybody able to watch via hdmi on a tv without the stuttering or is there anything that I can do. I read about changing the kernel to allow 720 or 1080, could this be the issue?, is there an overclocked kernel available for this device.

One thing I did notice is that once the Mini HDMI is plugged in the CPU goes into overdrive. Could it be the CPU cannot handle powering the HDMI cable which is 5meters long?

I wonder if darthjabber, you have this issue as well or have any advice to offer. I notice you made a reference to "phjanderson" and "rkpatchomatic" to overclock, could this help in my case

Thanks in advance, and thanks once again Oma

I haven't seen any stuttering that is caused by connecting to the TV via HDMI. Do you have a sample of a video that stutters?

I have an overclocked kernel (Antutu v5 benchmark score is just over 23,000). However, this tablet doesn't overclock particularly well (at least, not for me). The maximum speed that will not keep crashing or rebooting spontaneously is 1680mhz. The highest stable speed is 1656mhz.
