Hi Oma,
Any news on this? I would really appreciate KitKat on my Hudl (since it seems unlikely the manufacturer is going to update...)!
Â
Here are some specs:
Screen: 1440x900, 242ppi
CPU: RK3188 (clocked @ 1.5GHz on stock kernel)
WiFi: AP6210
RAM: 1GB
Storage: 16GB NAND w/ microSD slot
Â
Thanks again so much!

Negative. The wifi chip is Broadcom 4330. This is a solution I've never seen before. So, no KitKat available for that.
The stock dump you linked I cannot image that it boots. The recovery is not a factory recovery, which means it cannot format user partitions.

Bah, that's a shame about the WiFi. That said though, isn't bcm4330 firmware included in AOSP source code?
Â
As for the ROM dump, is it the format? The one I linked is made to work on rkflashtools on Linux, but this one will work on RKBatchTool for Windows. For the recovery, try this link, it has both CWM and the stock recovery in it.

Also, it appears that it does indeed use the AP6210 WiFi, as this is based on bcm4330 hardware.

I know that. RK903 and AP6xx are all Broadcom BCM4330 / BCM40183 based chipsets. That's the mainstream ...
... the build contains a driver: usi_bcm4334.ko
BCM4334: http://www.broadcom.com/products/Wireless-LAN/802.11-Wireless-LAN-Solutions/BCM4334

Rockchip is closed source. SDK and kernel config are not available. Tesco does not publish kernel source, so is in violence to the GPL.
Kitkat kernel are different from JB kernel due to the introduction of selinux. Footprint of the wifi chip is in over 40 files/binaries.
Without having the tab nearly impossible. Sorry.

Tesco does publish kernel source, it is linked in the first post:

With this sources one would not be able to reproduce the kernel which runs on the tab.

I understand. With regards to the lack of selinux support in the kernel, is it not possible to disable selinux support in the ROM? For example, I see this ROM has selinux turned off. In theory, would I not then be able to use my stock kernel in this?

To wrap-up, we have:
- a dump which cannot be restored
- a wifi chip for which we have no source
- kernel sources which are incomplete
What could one do having this tab?
