Hello,

You should be able to change the mount options in the boot image (boot.img part of the firmware) by editing the init.rc file which should contain a line like below, where you should be able to add some extra parameters:

mount ext4 mtd@system /system wait ro noatime nodiratime noauto_da_alloc

I am wondering if the performance issue of the storage system may just be related to the low speed of the flash memory ?

Cheers.

See post #49. The creapy RK driver/layer (rk30xxnand_ko.ko) is the problem.

I hate it, when the main structure of linux is not followed. They are putting much stuff in deferent images on deferent locations.

I hate it when they do that. Anyways.

Thanks for the location BUT this is not all.

I decompressed the boot.bin and when I edit the init.rc script it says:

mount ext4 mtd@userdata /data wait noatime nodiratime nosuid nodev noauto_da_alloc

When I check the mount in the tablet it says also these 2 witch I am going to change but not appear in init.rc

barrirer=1. data=ordered

I will try do add my modifications to the init.rc script and report back.

P.S. I do not know why there is no Android 4.4 for this tablet. RK3188 SDK 2.x was released long time ago.

EDIT:

I extracted the boot.img from boot.bin. Edited the init.rc script file for mounting options to look like this, repacked the img file and flashed it:

    mount ext4 mtd@userdata /data wait noatime nodiratime barrier=0 data=writeback nosuid nodev noauto_da_alloc

BUT NO SUCCESS!

Again the mounting options reported by Android are barrier=1 data=writeback

    mount ext4 mtd@userdata /data wait noatime nodiratime barrier=0 data=ordered

Interesting thing here is that the mounting points are not mtd@userdata In fact there are /dev/block/mtdblock(5,6,8)

Maybe the mounting process is set someware in other place/point

Still no luck with the mounting of the eMMC.

Anyway will someone make picture of the welding point of the wifi wire to the board?

I expect my ordered antennas to arrive soon.

Can u please upload a 1.06 kernel with only cpu stepping modification and no RAM overclock?

Maybe RAM overclock causing random reboots for me.

Thank you!

O.K. Today I decided to mod the build antenna and replace it with a new one.

I will post pictures on that post.

There is a wi-fi signal improvement but not so much, meaning it is there but it is not very sufficient.

See the pictures.

In future I am planing to mace a whole in the back plate, because it is causing the signal degradation. Without he back cover the signal speed and signal are magnificent.

After closing the back the the things change.

The electrical engineer in me is telling me to do one other mod before cutting a whole in to the case.

Because the back plate is metal and it is "grounded" on several places to the board it act as a "Faraday Cage".

I will try to isolate the back case from the board, but the problem is that it make contact to the IO ports on several places and I am not shure will I be able to isolate them also.

Will write beck.

See pictures in my site, because I am not allowed to upload hi res pictures.

P.S. sorry for the off topic.

Contacted primus about the kernel without ram overclock, but no answer yet. Maybe he is busy or maybe he does not develop anymore for this device.

By the way, what about kitkat project? Is it impossible and v2.2-tgrs-u39gt_1.041.06kernel+mods+apps+tweaks.img.7z is the last rom for this device?

Hi All, same tablet has been released in Hungary as WayteQ xTAB 9, the only difference as I know they changed the ROM size from 16 to 8GB.

For this device Android 4.4 KitKat available here: http://www.wayteq.eu/en/xtab9-v4-4-update (http://wayteq.hu/files/download/xtab9/wayteq_xtab_9_v4_4_0729.zip)

I'm not sure if it's 100% compatible with U39GT, but probably this could be a good base for the development/customization (if there's any volunteer). Good luck. Regards, Samott

Reporting back.

NICE!!!!

The tablet flash successfully, the touch works, the screen resolution and oriantation are fine.

Allso the wi-fi and bluethooth are working!!!.

GREAT. New gen 2.x loader.

Next fiew days, I will mod the rom, root,  tweak the kernel and other minor stuff  and upload it to my server.

Thanks again Samott

 EDIT 1:

The build is KitKat 4.4.4 The lucnker is stock.

The cameras also work without modding. No addition apps in the rom.

EDIT2: The sound is not working.

EDIT3: Tablet not powering of, just rebooting when connected to DC.

Maybe the CubeU39GT V 1.01 compatable rom.

Hope I will fix the problems

However, if you (vasil_d) create a version of the firmware (for the cube u39gt) not change the frequency of the ram in the kernel, because it can create sudden crashes or automatic restarts (which is why I could not keep the rom).
I realized that in fact watching the pictures you've posted on the blog, which in your case the chip Ram are SCSemicon while in my SkHinyx.

First on hand is the sound.

About the kernels-you are able to flash any kernel you like.

With or without overclock. With or without less steppings.

I personally use a kernel with no overcklock just with less stepping for the RAM, VGA and CPU speeds and is behaving much robust that with kernel with same speeds and more steppings .
