I have downloaded the installation package for the RK31: Xoro PAD 9719QR hoping to install it on my RK3188 cube U9GTV (with the separately supplied kernel for the U9GTV). When opening the parameter file it is indicating that it is for a 3066 (see bold below). Is this correct? I just want to ensure that I have downloaded the correct file with the correct ROM settings.

Doesn't have any influence.
Most things on rk31boards are named like on rk30boards .. so this tolds us something

Thank you Oma. You can add "tested" for the U9GTV next to the RK31: Xoro PAD 9719QR ROM. The only little trouble that I had was that pressing the Power and Volume + method on my tab did not work until I realized that it is a method to boot the tab into bootloader. Since I already had a Kasty rom installed I used the arctablet tools app to do that and from there on all went smooth.

I really like this ROM. Small problem on the U9GTV though. The video, although being played smoothly, would lag the audio. The lag amount varies from almost being spot on with some videos to lagging by seconds on others. On some videos it would start good but go more and more out of synch as time goes on. On other there is a noticable lag from launching the video. It happens on both Youtube videos and videos being streamed using MX Player. If there is a setting to fix this kindly let me know.
Another issue not specifically to this ROM but most likely related to the rk30 boards. Has any one with a RK3188/MALI 400 clone tablet succeeded in getting anything more than 2.0 stereo out of the HDMI port?
Hm, haven't noticed such issues on any of my tabs.
A few questions:
- is there something running in the backgroud (e.g. protection app)?
- is it only using MX player?
- is there a difference while playing from internal vs external sd?
- is it only on a specific codec (mkv, mp4, ..)
- is it only on 1080p videos?
- Oma -
- No protection app
- Happens when playing YouTube too
- Have not tried comparing the differences between internal and external, External there is certainly a lag.
- Have not analyzed it as such but I guess that the codec does made a difference
- I play only HD sources but I cannot say for certain that there is a difference between 720 and 1080.
In retrospec the MX Player that was included in that ROM did not have the Codec for the NEON tab required, so I had to install that as well as the latest MX Player on the Play store before some of my Videos would play. Not sure if that was part of it. But how would that influence the Youtube video?
I made a backup and switched back to the Kasty ROM for the Xoro which I believe was based on one of your ROMs. No lagging problems on that ROM.
Maybe someone else that tried this ROM on the U9GTV can report if he/she is seeing something similar.
Ok, thank you for feedback.

I decided to give this ROM another go. This time did not install the Neon encoder but installed a new MX Player directly from the play store. Also installed the latest YouTube app.
This time around all video lag is gone for local files as well as Youtube. Streaming a file over XBMC still presents a lag problem. Will see if I can determine if this is codec dependent.
Update. I tried a few videos and it appears as if it is related to the number of lines in the video. I am getting the same results using both XBMC and BubbleUPNP to stream video on my home network. The rough rule of thumb is anything over 400 lines has this lag, even though the video is rendered smoothly. Old PAL videos that has been digitized (more than 500 lines) also show this effect. The Kasty ROM does not have this lag.
Hope this helps
Realizing that not everyone is streaming video I found a way to replicate the video lag problem on the U9GTV without streaming. Here is how.
1. Load a HD video file on the external SD card.
2. Play with XM Player and verify that there is no lag
3. Install BubbleUPnP from the playstore
4. Open BubbleUPnP
5. Click on Devices
6. Select Local Media Server
7. Select Library
8. Select Video
9. Select External SD card
10. Select Videofile and verify Video lag
Although it may sound as if it is BubbleUPnP that introduces the lag, I have tried this procedure with the Xoro Kasty ROM and no lag.
UPDATE: I believe I have found a pointer to the problem. Since I had run some Visture ROMS with success, I took a calculated risk and replaced the U9GTV kernel with a Visture kernel and ............. no more lag
Ok, fine. For my understanding: you did use the whole kasty build incl. the Xoro kernel?
Which would mean all the following kernel will work on Cube U9GT5.
- Oma -
Thanks Oma. I already tried the N90 kernel and it works too. I may give some of the other a go too.
Interesting comparing the different kernel image sizes:
Cube u9gtv 10887216
Hyundai x900 10928176
Xoro 9719QR 10948656
Vido n90 10948656
Visture v97hd 10948656
DragonTouch r97 10948656
The cube being notably different in size where the Xoro, Vido Visture and Dragontouch tabs have exactly the same size kernel. If the kernel size is an indication of functionality that explains probably why the cube kernel reacts differently to the video synchronization.
