2013/11/06

Hello,
I just bought this Archos 80 Cobalt tablet and it is still on ICS 4.0.4, I have been looking for some custom roms for it but there are only two and they are modified stock ICS firmware.
I was wondering what would be required to get cm10.1 or 10.2 to work on it?
It has the Rockchip RK3066 in it, I was wondering if some of the other custom roms that use this chip will work? Like this one for example. I'm guessing the problem will be to find a kernel that works on it?
The specs are
Dual core, 1600 MHz
1024 MB RAM
Mali 400 GPU
8GB storage with micro SD support
I already have the tablet rooted and with CWM
Does anyone know enough about writing kernels to tell me what to do to get it working?
Thanks

I tried the code from the xda post in your link and this is what came out
Â
E:Downloadssamsungi9505EFS ProfessionalADB>adb shell
shell@android:/ $ su
su
dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd1 of=/sdcard/kernel.img bs=4096
dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd1 of=/sdcard/kernel.img bs=4096
1|shell@android:/ $ dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd1 of=/sdcard/kernel.img bs=4096
/dev/mtd/mtd1: cannot open for read: Permission denied
1|shell@android:/ $ su dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd1 of=/sdcard/kernel.img bs=4096
su dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd1 of=/sdcard/kernel.img bs=4096
1|shell@android:/ $ su dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd2 of=/sdcard/boot.img bs=4096
su dd if=/dev/mtd/mtd2 of=/sdcard/boot.img bs=4096
1|shell@android:/ $
but then I was unable to find any files in /sdcard.. I don't really understand this
but here are the kernel.img and boot.img files from the rom that I am using

Ok, thanks. Kernel is now in the archive: http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?wpfb_dl=1176
You can try the CM10.1 build with that kernel.

Ok cool, thanks
I noticed that it's the same kernal, no changes have been made.
Flashed fine, boots ok,
wifi works
some flicker in screen when rotating, I played with some transition settings in developer options and I couldn't do anything to fix it, will see if I flash 'tablet UI fix' maybe it will help.
Battery in status bar doesn't display any info, it just has a '?' and if I check battery in settings it just says "Battery usage data isn't available."
 usage 0% unknown
 0s on battery
Can you suggest any fixes for these two problems?
Apart from that everything seems to be running nicely, thanks very much!

another problem, I can't connect to the device via USB, I've tried the three options... MTP device, Photo PTP, and Mass Storage,
None of the options seem to work.
The computer seems to think its a Nexus device when I connect it up too

To roll out an build that works on any stock-kernel is the strategy
Artefacts while rotation is still unsolved. We assume that this a problem with gralloc.
For battery info pls test this: http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?wpfb_dl=1055

OK thanks I will try, but for the moment I can't install any zips from CWM
I cant access the internal SD card storage, I think this is why I can't connect with USB either..
In the settings menu when I go to storage it says that it's full and it is being taken up by 88Mb of apps
Total space 0.00B
available 0.00B
apps 88.24MB
cached data 8.00KB
I'm guessing the storage is set up differently on the Archos 80 Cobalt than what it is on the Odys Genio tablet?
I can't install any apps from play store either,
also everytime I reboot the device it resets ALL settings and goes back to Deutsch,
I'm guessing this also has to do with the internal storage problem

Did you install format_NAND_fix?
Reboot into recovery via app RebootMenue.

No I wasn't able to do anything from recovery, I couldn't access anything on the internal storage, I have an idea though, maybe I can put all the zip fixes you recommended on my microSD and try to access that from recovery,
I've had to flash back to stock rom to be able to copy the files to the microSD though, Ill flash back to cm10.1 in a minute and let you know how it goes.
Which NAND fix file are you refering to? I can see that there are a few under the 'Oma's RK30 Stuff' downloads section
Which one do you suggest?
Oma Genio 4.2.2 IntSD To NAND Fix,
Oma Genio IntSD To NAND Fix,
or Oma RK30 JB 4.2.2 Format NAND

Sure, ext SD. EraseIDB will wipe the partition layout on the NAND. Format_NAND will format the user partitions.
You can find all stuff here: http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?p=1913

Hey,
So I was able to put the format_NAND_fix zip on my external sd, flashed and it works now - I have access to the internal sd.
I still cant get the battery info to work though, I tried the battery info fix zip but it didn't change anything.
Also I have another problem, when the tablet sleeps I can't wake it up, when I press the power button for a few seconds the screen lights up but says 'shutting down' and then it turns off. Then I have to reboot to get it to work again

I've just put up a post on xda

Hopefully I can get some more people interested in this so we can get it to work 100%

Hey,
My tablet is off getting fixed, I had some problems with the touchscreen so I had to post it back to Archos, hopefully it wont take too long.
Sorry I didn't get back to you netlars about your question, and thanks oma, I'll test your zip when I get the tablet back.
Soon hopefully
