Ok, so I did it!! It was VERY difficult, but it is possible.

First, enable USB debugging and connect it to your computer. Windows will automatically find the driver via windows update.

Second, download this file: http://liamwli.co.uk/gbook_root.zip

Now, extract the contents somewhere.

Now, the tricky part. You need to enable temporary root. I discovered this by accident, but you can do it by pressing the 'USB Debugging' option several times, ignoring the popup, and then selecting OK on the final one. This will enable temporary root. THIS MUST BE DONE BEFORE YOU RUN THE APP!!!!!

Once temporary root is enabled, run the .bat file. YOU HAVE ROOT!

The tricky part, to enable temporary root is too difficult.

From the first to the third step, Everything went well.
But activating the temporary root does not work.
Are there an indication for the activation of temporary root?

translated with google translate. Confused

It is tricky ;)

As well as that - I did multiple key combos at once. You can tell if you have temp root, because if you view adb shell it will display a # not a $.

Please try this:

Go to the 'About Tablet' option in settings, and press the 'Build Number' several times quickly.

Once that is done, go into settings and dev options, and then press the USB debugging option several times, ignoring the prompt. Make sure your last tap brings a prompt up, and make sure you don't miss the USB debugging option ;)

Hello, if you can fallow this guide and dump the firmware we will be able to build a rooted one.

dont suppose the archos arnova 8c g3 firmware whould work on the gbook as both are g3 and seem similier in spec and archos arnova website doesnt supply a backup for the gbook :(

no, the firmware from the 8c will not work

it is pretty easy to dump the firmware if you have linux.
for the windows guide, you need to root the tablet

try this tool, ho knows, maybe you will have luck, it works on 7cg3 and archos cobalt.

k thanks will take a look,,

are you aware of any1 else dumping firmware from  the gbook as that whould be the same on all gbooks only think that whould cause a change whould be the actual firmware they are running isnt it ??

so in my opionion if someone has already made a dump of a gbook on 4.0.3 then that should be no diffrent to mine??

maybe :)

The only way to wipe is to do`it from a booted tablet, you need to go to settings andi think is under the back`up option, to reset the tablet to factory

If possible, I'll make a mirror on arctablet.com if the file reappears or we get another source.
