Hi guys,
After browsing the web for a few days I came across this site and it looks like the place that I would get most help from, hopefully, in relation to my problem.
I have an Arnova GBook ANGB, that is all I know unfortunately.
The problem is, the USB socket on the bottom has become disconnected from the inside of the case and I can no longer attach the USB cable to charge it up.
Does anyone know how to get the back off the GBook so I can get inside and see if I can fix the USB socket back in place please??
This looks like a material / hardware problem.
Can you please make and upload a picture to help us understand the problem.
Cheers.

I more or less see the problem.
It's definitely something material related, I'm not sure it will be easy to put everything back in place from the outside. Disassembling the tablet is an option, but it probably voids the warranty.
The best is probably to contact Arnova/Archos and tell them about the problem, if it's a frequent failure on this model, you should be able to RMA your tablet. There are several user stories with similar problems regarding the micro USB connector on the ARCHOS G9 model that were replaced.
Cheers.

Thanks.
I have tried contacting Arnovo a couple of times over the last few weeks and no reply.
I fix laptops computers etc myself and would be handy enough at fixing this if I could find out how to get it open. Want to be cautious as it is not mine.
The person who owns it does not have the receipt and it was only purchased at Christmas. Unfortunately it was from HMV who have since gone into administration and are not offering replacements or RMAs.
May be I will try Archos first though as well, see what they say, but if anyone can tell me how to get the back off I would appreciate it. There are no external screws so I assume it slides or pops off.
Thanks.
Edit: Seems the Archos site is not accessible.
There you go:
If you find other contact info, please add them in this topic, so we can complete the list.
Good luck with your RMA

hi,
im on 4.0.3
there is an option in
settings>about tablet>status
that shows serial number but mine shows as unknown ?? (maybe thats why they ask for it ??)
luckily mine still has the sticker on the back
surely there not gonna refuse do to the fact you no longer have the box(which is quite normal orare we meant to keep the packaging for every item we buy and they decided to put pretty important information on a sticker rather than on the back of the device with the model number ?? which they then ask for..)
i whould definatly argue this point if you havent altready
hope you get it sorted ,, iam looking for a disassembly guide and will link/post if have any luck
Hello KBL,
If you get the chance, could you please take some pictures and post them in the forum.
Cheers.
