Fantastic. Is this just the launcher from the Rockchip SDK 2.1 or is it based on a firmware e.g Teclast T760 and configured to work with the Arnova Devices?

Jekle, I have just done a quick check on the firmware files, it does not seem to be related to Teclast devices, not sure if it's Arnova based or anything else.

Maybe Morka can give us some info Wink

I still haven't downloaded yet. I think the Honeycomb look etc. has been retrieved from a Rockchip device with SDK 2.1 update which includes the Honeycomb launcher. Launcher3.apk

Morka? Details? Thanks

As a standard user and not someone with any knowledge of what's going on underneath, is this worth installing yet? What I mean is, I won't be able to help develop it like some of you peeps so I'll just be using it as a normal user.

Thanks and great work!

Oh one last thing, what does - (firmware would work with Arnova7G2 included in the images folder kernel.img) mean? Is there another file in the download I should use to install it on a 7G2?

Seems correct, here is a screenshot from the Launcher settings:

RKSDK21_Launcher.pngImage Enlarger

Pretty similar to what the guys in Italy have done with their Smartpad:

http://www.androidiani.com/forum/mediacom-smartpad-810c/99976-rom-pistoneone-5-2-sdk-2-1-root-ext4-bluetooth-3g-base-fw-1-0-21-ics-style-55.html

BTW, I have reuploaded the file here, for easier/faster download.

http://www.arctablet.com/assets/firmware/Arnova8G2/Arnova.UI.3.SDK.2.1.RK29XX.test1.zip

Thanks Morka for allowing this Wink

As I mentioned in the Blog http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/arnova-g2-tablets-taste-honeycomb-morkamod-test1/ it should be seen as a Proof of Concept and it's still a bit early to flash for a daily use.

It's still nice to check for anyone curious that can't wait for the hypothetical ICS firmware update on our Arnova G2 Wink

I think I'll try it. I've got nothing important on my Tab (afraid it may get stolen) so I don't mind having to format / re-flash etc. If I can help spot bugs it all helps I suppose. Thanks.

I can't get it to connect to the internet. I've followed the instructions to set a static IP and the device connects to the router, but it won't go to any Internet sites. The wireless is working on other devices in the house so I don't think it's that (although I will now go and have another check). Anyone else get online with it?

I got online without problem using a fixed IP on my wireless connection (with the setup you see on the Blog screenshot). That was on the Arnova 8 G2 (8GB model). I did test on the 7G2 and the system works, but I haven't tested WIFI connection on this machine... yet.

Let me know how you get on with the 7G2. I'm still messing with it to see if I can sort it but no luck yet.

Just so you know it's connecting to the WIFI, but not the internet. It's also not appearing on the connected devices list on the router. The little WIFI strength icon in the bottom right stays greyed out with a small x on it which is what it's like when you first turn the device on after loading the ROM (in other words there's no network). If you manage to get it going on the 7G2 then it may be an issue with my router but everything else works OK so ...

Reporting bugs is a good thing, that could help Morka locating problems and improving his firmware.

I'll check again on the 7G2 when I have some time, the device is currently busy with other firmware stuff Wink

I built this firmware from Smartpad

vandinz
For the wifi connection
IP address : 192.168.1.xxx static IP from 105 to 255
Gateway:     192.168.1.1 Corresponds ip address to the connection to router for my router (192.168.1.254)
opens firefox to write the ip address if you connect to the router
