Hello, I'm searching original firmware of arnova familypad for recovery. I rooted it and it pretends to be ok, but after first restart is entered in loop. I would restore original firmware but on arnova site there isn't . Thanks.

To my knowledge there is no firmware available for the familypad.

An option would be this:

Thank you for the reply, I'll try this option.

I just had a Arnova FamilyPad in a similar state. I don't think it had been root'd - but it was definitely in a loop when starting up - just showing the Arnova logo over and over without end.

I tried the various solutions linked to from here, even going so far as to install the JavaSE, Android Developer Studio and various Rockchip utilities. All without success. My main problem seemed to be finding drivers that would be accepted. I'm running Windows 7-64bit and none of the drivers I found would replace the inbuilt ones. As such, none of the tools would recognise the ADB functionality (I'm new to Android, so pardon my ignorance).

In the end, I found a Youtube video for an entirely different Android Tablet (tbh, I found lots, but most weren't much use) and found a solution that worked for me.

  • Unplug the power and USB cables, ensuring the tablet has a suitably high %power level.
  • Hold the power button for about 10 seconds to power off the tablet.
  • Press the power button to switch it back on again.
  • Repeatedly press the power button and the volume + buttons semi randomly while the Arnova logo was on screen.
  • Keep repeating until the Android Robot logo appeared, then press the power button again.
  • A menu appeared. One of the options was a "reset to factory defaults". Navigation was using the volume - / + and power.

Resetting this way worked for me and the tablet is operational again. Clearly the "press volume + and power semi randomly" isn't the right way to do this. There's undoubtedly a "right way" with a correct order and correct timings. However since I tried a couple of times and the way that eventually worked was the semi random button mashing - I can't offer any more insights.

Posted in the hope that the next person that comes finds this post via google search doesn't waste as much time as I did.

hi woetoo

i have messed about with this tablet a few months now and found that it has to be flashed via livesuit as its not a rockchip system

its an A10 system holding the power button and tapping the vol+ button puts it in flash mode or recovery mode

you want to find out how to do a firmware dump

this will help you in the future as i have been trying to find a firmware for this for about 4-5mths

(i have mine up and running but is not 100% as i have miss matched scripts and firmwares)

if you do get a firmware dump i would as if you could message me about it

one of these would  help me get it back to 100% working

thanks sean
