Hi verbavolant
I have the same model as you and I succeeded by pressing the Home button for 5 seconds, then, while still pressing the Home button, insert the pin in the reset and pressed them both together for 5 seconds, then released the reset button and after another couple of seconds released the Home button.
I had to try several times, but got there eventually! Good luck

have installed this update without a hitch and is's working beautifully.
thank you guy's..
there are some problems though that are inherit to the original firmware of the 9 3G that are included in this update.
namely the memory is 50% allocated the other half seems to be missing.
i only have half of my flash memory is available 2gb of my 4gb and the ram available is only 400ish.
seems to be a know issue with other models of arnova as debated on this forum els where.

maybe the same can be applied here?

Can I please have full instuctions on how to enter recovery mode for Arnova 9 G3.
Does the device have to be powered on or off, does it have to be connected up to the charger and or USB.
I have tried doing it the above to no avail... Both on and off.
Please can you advise: chrisjclayton@live.co.uk

Not a developer, just a user but I share in everyone's frustration. Here's what I did...
First, put the unit into USB Debugging mode. Without it, I couldn't get anywhere. Go to settings -> Developer Settings and turn on USB Debug. Second, make sure you have a good USB cable that fits snug. After that, connect the unit to your PC. The driver popup should try to install the RockChip USB driver. Even if windows (I'm still on XP 32-bit) claims it failed... still click OK and check the "don't prompt me to install again" box. I went through two days of frustration thinking the driver did not install because windows complained. Once I said screw it and just clicked OK, I finally got a pop up saying that my driver installed!!
At that point I started up the RockChip Batch tool and loaded the firmware and then went through the key combinations. I decided to try something different since the posted method didn't work. I held down reset, pushed in the Home button, held them for 10 seconds and then released the reset, then a half a second later released the Home button. Once I did I saw the RockChip Batch tool light the first green light which told me it was in recovery even though the screen was black. At that point it was just click upgrade and watch.

Used the application found on the market, and flashed the firmware without any problem.
Before this, had problem installing the drivers on XP, 7 and windows 8. I think that i should have put my usb in "debug mode" (or the android with his belly opened is not the recovery mode ?).
Anyway, thanks

I find this firmware unstable, in fact unusable.
After using the rockchip batch tool to do a 'restore' to this image the tablet will hang/reboot when just idling, not doing anything.
Also the 'appslib' process will fail on restart, or the 'exchange' process will, or once I've even had the settings app failed.
It would be nice if you had an option to undo this update; as the stock firmware is not available on the web as far as I can see...
Does anybody have a dump of the stock firmware, *pleasepleasepleaseplease*
I'm still within my warranty return on this; and I think I'd like to...
