Well the first programs when you buy/install a new computer are:
-Movie codecs
- an archive opener like WINZIP OR WINRAR (install one of this and you will be able to extract what you need)
-Music player
-movie player
If you are having difficulties with the procedure, an easier flashing method should be made available soon for the 9 G3, something similar to the procedure for the 7f G3:

As above having trouble entering this recovery mode. A bit of further instruction would be appreciated; clarifying in which order to press the reset button and home keys, and for how long.
So far no matter what I try the tablet just boots as normal when I release the reset button, whether I hold it for three seconds or thirty.
Push the reset pinhole with a paperclip, keep pushing for a second, push the home button for a second as well while maintaining the reset pushed, release both.

I tried loads of times and got there in the end. Â I pressed home key for 5 secs then, still holding it, put the pin in the reset place and made sure it actually pressed something, then I held both for 15 seconds and released them both together and it worked.
Good luck...

This firmware update has been fantastic and everything is working great, except Google+ which just gives me a connection error. I've tried uninstalling, clearing cache, reinstalling, rebooting, but it just won't connect. Â Lets me choose my account to use then give a connection error. Â Is anyone else having these problems with it?

Hey guys,
I was wondering if you might be able to shed some light on a problem I'm having flashing my Arn. G3 9 tablet. I've got into recovery mode (and on the screen is a little android bot with an exclamation mark floating out of its opened belly!). I've also connected the device to my computer. It then says that it cannot find the driver for the device, which is fine and so I select the Rockchip drivers as per the instruction but it says that these drivers aren't suitable for the device. It won't let me do it.
What I should say is that, unlike the screenshots above, my device doesn't show up as 'USB Device' on the Device Manager screen, but rather as 'ANG39'. However, I'm quite sure that I'm in flashing mode, as I have the little android bot showing on my tablet screen and I've never seen that before. I got there by doing the 'press home and then reset' method.
I'm not really sure what I've done wrong...!
Any help would be much appreciated!
Rob

How 'safe' is this upgrade? I'm quite happy to install/uninstall/tweak programs on my PC, but most of what I've read on this Forum (this topic included) seems to suggest poking the Arnova OS with sharp sticks — something I'm a little leery about. I have neither the knowledge nor time to play about 'unbricking' a tablet if it all goes wrong.
The instructions at the top of this thread say you should first backup... but HOW do you backup? There's no Backup app that I've found, and my PC backup routines won't accept the Arnova as a backupable drive.
I'm willing to be a 'mini-geek', but 'total geekdom' is a step beyond me.

can't enter flashing mode!Â
Am I missing something - I've downloaded the custom firmware and the flashing tool.
Â
However the instructions for 9 g3 here http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/flashing-arnova-g2-rockchip-2918-rockchip-flashing-tool/ say press the menu and the reset. However this model doesnt have a menu button - the buttons are on/off, volume rocker +and- and home.
Sorry for my english, i'm french
Â
You have to go to the developper's options on the tablet and switch on the USB debogage.
Â
After, your pc will recognize your root disk i think.

I have not got the best knowledge about these tablets at all, it seems the flashing method as with myself leaves us without that knowledge a bit....der. I simply downloaded Arctools from Appslib and once downloaded clicked on Firmware and chose the Arnova 9 G3 Custom firmware 0.41 EZ. IT INSTALLED WITHOUT PROBLEM, furthermore, I had no need to back anything up at all, all my pictures and docs were still there after I rebooted the device, great stuff. I don't have face unlock though which would be nice, I don't think it's part of the firmware download. It's still working without any problem at the moment.
