Good afternoon all
Try as I can, I cannot get my 9 G3 to go to the flashing mode. Is there anyone who is able to assist me? I have downloaded all the required software and that part of it seems fine but all my attempts to enter flash mode by pressing the reset button and "home" key are not working.
Thanks in advance.
I had the USB cable connected at the time (with power). I held down the home key and then paper-clip in the reset and then released the home key. The screen went blank and windows then recognised a new device on the USB. I then went to device manager to update the USB driver to the RockChip driver and then followed the instructions.
I hope that helps.

I agree with Ian. It should be straight forward. The only thing I found was making sure the paperclip actually engaged the reset button inside correctly. With my Arnova 9 G3 it was slightly offset to one side. I don't have the tablet with me at the moment, but from recollection it was positioned more towards where it says the words 'Reset' than in the middle of the hole.
Try a couple of times to locate the reset button first just so you know what to feel for. The reset button should "feel" like a button when pressed down... i.e. spring loaded. You can, as I did a few times, put in a paper clip and miss the button completely!
Cheers
Yan

I'm having no luck trying to get my G3 into recovery flashing mode.
I am following the instructions here http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/flashing-arnova-g2-rockchip-2918-rockchip-flashing-tool/
using a paperclip in the reset hole whilst holding down the volume + button but no joy.
What am I doing wrong?
The key combination on the Arnova 9 G3 is actually reset and Home key.

Well, I built the firmware without having an Arnova 9 G3, so I assumed the device case was the same as the 9 G2, which is partly true, except the Menu button from the 9 G2 is now Home on the 9 G3. I'll update the tutorial to reflect that.

Hi
i am on a windows 7 x64
I am trying to flash my g3 and when it comes to loading the device it says MTP USB Device. When i try to install the driver from the win7 folder of the rockchip drivers 64 bits win7 I get the following message
The folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with a windows x64 based system
Any ideas...

See scottb's post earlier in this thread - it worked for me 🙂

Hi
Unfotunately, when the g3 goes into boot mode on my PC > goto the drivers folder in the rockchip folder. Hit next and it says windows cannot find the driver software for your device.
I am at a loss. Questions:
1: should the device be saying an9g3?
2: should i do a let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer. Should I then select Universal serial bus controllers and then try to install the device.
I was hoping this would be straight forward but its not 🙁

with your tablet connected to the pc in boot mode try this:
Open device manager (my computer, right click and select manage, then find device manager) right click the unknown device, click update driver , click find driver on computer and then find the folder where you unzipped the driver files.

It worked!
The reason it wasnt workign before is my Lenovo desktop has unreliable front USB sockets. I tried the whole thing on an HP laptop and it worked. Thanks guys it has made my tablet so much more usable. Why dont Archos provide their tablets with proper access to Android ?
Thanks!
