Just a quick preview of the Arnova 9 G3 Android 4.1 Jelly Bean custom firmware, based on OMA JB firmware.

It features:

  • rooted Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean¬†with SuperSU 0.96 by ChainFire (free version)
  • full¬†Google Play and Apps¬†support, including¬†Google Now
  • full¬†ext4 file system¬†on cache, data and system partitions
  • /system partition fully writable
  • extended¬†space for application (/data) to 1.5 Gb
  • Picture in Picture (PIP)¬†video player
  • super fast tablet shutdown (about 1 second)

Download: kasty_oma-arn9g3-41-044-1_5G.zip

See our Arnova 10b G3 JB firmware page for more details about this firmware and flash procedure.

Limitations:

- the battery indicator doesn’t work properly, it gives a correct reading (battery life % and charging or not) only once at boot time. After boot, the battery indicator is stuck and does not show any change of value from the boot.
- the video is mirrored horizontally in the camera application

This is pretty cool, make the whole device feel smoother.

The battery indicator seems to be working for me, but I've a weird problem where the wifi doesn't come back after standby and I have to switch it off and on again.  This is a new one on me.  Any ideas?

Installed this afternoon, the extra internal storage is a gods send. Battery indicator seems to be working.

No WiFi issues... try settings>WiFi>advanced and check the 'stay on during sleep' or similar

Hi everybody,

I have a stupid question....just downloaded the Zip file above, should I download also the Rockchip flashing tools?

How do I do a backup of the apps already on my tablet? And how do I put them back after I've flashed the tablet?

Thanks for helping....Embarassed

You can use Titaniun Back Up, but for a full recovery, you would need root.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&feature=search_result#?t=W10.

Or you can use adb and pull each app from the tablet.

Hi,

thanks for the answer, but I'm afraid I will need more help here...really don't know what to do exactly...

I've seen that on the tablet, in settings it exist "backup&reset" but when I go there it gives me only the reset command...why??

There is anywhere a video or an explanation how to made a backup and then also how to restore all the apps on the tablet?

Please help, i cannot flash if I don't manage to make the backup....

Working perfectly on Archos 97 carbon!

Only 2 things:

-You can turn on tablet only with the charger .... Very annoying XD

-Battery after every restart it shows empty 0% even if is 100%and if it has no charger it shout s down by it self

Is much smoother and faster then the official ROM with ICS, needs a little more work for a daily ROM, but at least there is someone doing something..... Thanks!

Does anyone know how to unroot this?  I am trying to play Ultaviolet movies via Flixster and it won't play because my device is rooted.  I have tried "Hide My Root" and "OTA Rootkeeper" but neither appear to hide the root from Flixster.  Anyone who has got UV movies playing on their Arnova 9 G3 please let me know your method of getting them playing.  Thanks.
