I am not worried about the 7G2, it will be saved when Arnova release an official firmware, but current dumps can't be flashed with Rockchip flash tool.
errrr..... isn't it released already? http://arnovatech.com/support/firmware/2/arnova7g2/120104/update.img

Admin, I am downloading your dump now. I am going to see what it looks like and if I can make a ROM for it. However since I have no way to test is someone willing to?

I'm passing my turn as my 9G2 is currently under review for the Blog, I don't want it bricked like my 7G2 where I pushed my experiment a bit too far

Hi admin
Your 7G2 can be flashed using this tool as well, since it's compatible with RK2818.
I'll probably try to split and flash each image (boot, kernel, system...) separately with Rockchip Flasher on Windows or Linux flasher when I have some time... (7G2 is RK2918 btw ;))

OK so the 7 G2 firmware was setup and packaged EXACTLY like the 10 G2. I just posted my rooted ROM for it. My bet is the 9 G2 will be the same. So all I need is a real update.img or a dump of all the .img's from the system e.g. boot.img, system.img, kernal.img, misc.img, etc... I do not need backup.img.

all those images are in the backup.img. you need the rkunpack tool, download it here: https://github.com/naobsd/rkutils
after compiling just run ./rkunpack backup.img and a folder will be created with all the images you desire.

Hi
If you're interested in the binary of rkunpack:

The backup dump of rkflashtool is useful, even if it adds extra blank space to the file.
The rkunpack still can extract all files (boot/kernel/recovery/system/...), tested it quite some time last few days.

RKunpack was not the trick!
I simply needed to use the standard AFPtool myself.
Admin I have unpacked your backup.img successfully! Looks JUST like the 10 G2 and 7 G2 🙂
Ha..... exciting when I stop being stupid and do what should have been done in the first place! Why the heck I tried to use the wendal tool on a ADB dump I have no clue... They are not the same animal! Ya learn something new every day 🙂
GET READY FOR A 9 G2 ROM tonight baby!

DONE.... this ROM rooted 100% exactly like the 10 G2 and 7 G2.... So I made a new sticky post for my ROM. GOD I hope there are no bricking issues as you know there is no update.img like the 7 G2 now has.
But again this was 100% the same! So I am pretty damn confident I made a good rooted working ROM.
