I cannot get this to work. I don't seem to be able to get the tablet into recovery mode. I have tried menu button then reset, reset then menu button, I have tried with it switched off, switched on, USB storage on, usb storage off...

When I try to get it into recovery mode Windows 7 just says "USB device is not recognized", and no connected device shows in Rockchip.

Could exact step by step idiot proof instructions be given please!? What state should the tablet be in before we start? Which button is pressed first - do you hold it/them down or just press it/them? What should you expect to see on the tablet screen, if anything, when it is is recovery mode?

I had the same problem for ages . whoever put the info up on this forum Fcuked Up !!! Hold Menu AND Power buttons then hold reset for five seconds. Have your Rockchip batchtool started and you will see connect device go green. If you have your tablet connected to the PC you will hear the connection ping and only a black screen on the tablet. EUREKA !!!

Does anyone know how to save a new APN configuration with this firmware?

I installed this firmware a few weeks ago and I'm trying to configure a new APN. The problem comes when pressing the physical menu button after entering all the needed data. This menu button doesn't seem to work (it makes the sound like if a menu was showing but no menu appears on screen) and no menu button is accessible from the screen.

ok so here it is, got my arnova 9 g2 tablet, tried to upgrade it to android 4.0 with custom firmware... been pressing reset+menu button for the last 3 hours every time with the same result -> usb device not recognized, did EVERYTHING that was mention in this thread (trying to update driver manually while holding the pin pressed on reset button -> got a message that driver doesnt need to be updated -> device still not recognized, tried my wife's laptop with Windows XP -> same thing USB not recognized, failed to install drivers) and it's been like this for last couple of hours so can anyone tell me how to make Arnova 9 g2 recognizable on my Windows 7 64bit ????

Hi zajcev80,

I had the same problem with mine. You need to hold the menu + power  on buttons together , then reset. If you have your table connected to win7 and RKBatchTool running you'll see the connect device 1 go green. The tablet screen stays black and eureka you should be connected. ( Look two posts up)Have a look at my thread:

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/arnova-9-g2/arnova-an9g2i-firmware-update-kasty-arn9g2-40-04-buggy/

and you'll see how i overcame the same problem.

Hi!

I had a similar problem when trying to update another RK29 tablet. Try the workaround i did to install the "recovery drivers":

Connect the switched-on tablet to an usb port.

Once it is recognised by the system and the drivers for using it as a storing device are installed, get to the Device Manager in Control Panel (can't remember where it is in Windows 7).

Manually change the automatically installed drivers (by "updating" them using disk and so) to the provided RK29 drivers for your system. This will make your system to have installed the suitable drivers for Rockchip tools. You may have to force the install of these drivers and don't worry if this update is not completed successfully (the important thing is getting this RK29 info in your system).

Shut down the tablet and restart the procedure. Remember to run Rockchip tools as administrator before switching on the tablet and keep the menu button pressed until the green box appears in the program (do not hold reset button, just a short press while holding menu button).

@kmike

again no luck :( did exactly what u said, plugged turned on arnova into pc, it recognized it in device manager as arnova9g2, whenever trying to update the drivers (update driver software) with the ones provided in batch tool i'm getting following message:

The best driver software for this device is already installed.

Windows has determined that software for your device is up to date.

WPD FileSystem Volume Driver

:(

ok so this is way that worked for me ;) first of all read this thread:

hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19895545&postcount=48

If you follow those steps correctly you can than start using Rockchip Batch Tool

(personally I only used RK29 Update Tool to see if tablet is recognizable and NOTHING ELSE),

Here's the important part: in Rockchip Batch Tool instead of upgrade use RESTORE button...

and that's about it :)
