Archos won't let me contact them unless I tell them what firmware version my device is running, it also doesn't indicate where to locate that info.

I can't find ANY detailed info on this device other than the how to switch it on booklet that came with it.

No info on default password, (or if there is indeed a default password) or what functions the password protects.

I want to enable a screen password but am stuck?

Mike.

Hello Mike,

You can get the firmware version info by check in Settings menu, About device. The text under Build number gives firmware version information.

So far Arnova hasn't released any update for the Arnova 9G2, but there are probably different firmware versions of the firmware depending on when the device was bought.

Anyway, the default firmware from the manufacturer (at least current versions) does not offer any password protection feature. You will need to look for an application on the device marketplace (Appslib) or install a custom firmware so you can use Google Play (formerly Android Market) to get a wider choice of applications for that purpose.

Cheers.

Fantastic.

Thanks for that reply, thought I was going crazy. ūüôā

The passwords are in the location and security sections?

So the build number Gingerbread.eng.20111118.101706

The figures after the gingerbread are the firmware number?

Gingerbread.eng.20111118.101706 is the firmware compile date, it helps to identify which firmware you are running, there is no currently no other readable version number available.

I am not sure which passwords you are looking for in location and security section ?

Cheers.

You have just to re-flash back any firmware and you should be fine, read carefully the forum and you will find out how.
