Just wanted to say again how much difference this firmware makes to the Arnova. It is now a brilliant tablet that is on par with the iPad 2. My friend has an Ipad 2 and is a bit jealous of how well my Arnova works now. The streaming of internet videos is simply faultless now and most of the Google play apps and games work perfectly. Also the tablet is now amazingly responsive and I have not had a single crash since installing this new firmware where as before the tablet would crash while doing the simplest of tasks. The only fault I now have with the tablet is the very very poor battery life. I don't know weather this is a common fault with the 9G2 or if it is just my tablet but the battery seems to diminish very quickly. But i can cope with this as I picked the tablet up for under £200 and it is brilliant.
A bit disappointed with the lack of support from the Arnova team. I have tried on several occasions to get help from their technical department without reply and their website seems to offer firmware for all the other tablets they make apart from the 9G2.
I am so pleased I found this website, it has been a godsend.Â
Again I would like to thank everyone who has had a hand in bringing us this firmware, hats off to you all.Â

AVI movies can contain an exotic video or audio format that the Arnova Video Player does not recognize.Have a look at MX Player, which is a powerful Video Player for the 9 G2.
About the 2 galleries, it's a small glitch in the custom firmware, it will be fixed soon. You case use either app.
Thanks for your recommendation. It does work perfectly now!Â

Hi everybody!
Â
I have updated my Arnova 9 g2 to Android 4.0 ICS, but I have some problems with new firmware:
1) Sometimes after rebooting the tablet, it shows setup menu, which was appeared the first time after installation of Android 4.0, and then all icons removed from desctop after entering all setting.
2) Second problem appeared after 3 days of using this device - I have turned the device on and all applications I have installed before disappeared from device (but the internal memory on device was full).
Â
I don't know why this happend, could anybody help?
Â
ps. sorry for my english if something is not clearÂ

I'm having BBC iplayer problems too - the BBC website explained that since there wasn't yet an ICS version of iplayer, if you want to see iplayer on ICS it automaticaly brings up the clip in a browser. So far so good. But going into fullscreen just gives a black screen. And annoyingly the playback quality when not fullscreened is very poor - very jerky. In contrast youtube website clips runs fine. I couldn't see any low-quality settings in iplayer in browser mode to fiddle with, because I suspected the jerkiness was to do with too high a resolution or something. Anyonew got smooth playing in iplayer yet?
Â
On another note, I just can't get Skype to work. I tried the "old" version of Skype for single camera phones that had been recommended, but I've never got it to send a video signal to the other person. And only once I got video of the person I was talking to, but they couldn't see me. I've tried with and without earphones but the call quality is abysmal, lots of "static" audio glitches. If Skype isn't the answer, what is there that works for videocalling witht he 9G2?

ÂÂ
Version 0.1 (2012-05-16) :
- Arnova Android 4.0.3 firmware (2012-04-19) with all stock apps from the Arnova 9 G2i model and Google Play Store 3.5.15
- partial root support, the system partition (/system) is still read only
- Google Play is missing some apps (ex. Youtube)
- with the limited memory on the Arnova 9 G2 (512 Mb) the tablet can get a little unresponsive when many applications are running
Â
You say that youtube is missing from PlayStore, is there no way of installing the apk manually? And would the same go for other apps?

i did on Windows 7 64 bit. Although the first time i did it i directed the browse function just to the general driver folder and it couldn't find a driver. The second time I navigated directly to the Win 7 64 bit folder and it found the driver straight away
uhm... did you catch the driver by UPGRADE DRIVER MANUALLY or DISCO DRIVER?

I completely agree, I was on the brink of taking the tablet back for a refund, but then tried ICS on it and wow, it doesn't even feel like the same tablet anymore! Luckily I didn't run into any errors and as of yet (touch wood) I haven't come across any bugs at all. Can't express how happy I am with it now and how high-end the 9g2 feels now. Love it.

I flashed my 9G2 with ICS. Seems great, but I have two problems:
Â
1) BBC iPlayer doesn't seem to work. It shows the rotating donut thing for a while then says "Not available" (or something like that). I've reinstalled Flash from Google Play.
2) I don't seem to have the built-in dictionary. Just about every word I type is shown with red underlining. I'm set up to use English (UK). Most odd.
Â
Any ideas?

Please try latest firmware update (version 0.4)Â here : http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/arnova-9g2-custom-firmware-upgrade-ics-google-play-root-face-unlock/
and use Restore button in Rockchip Batch Tool rather than Upgrade button.
