Hi
Has anyone tried a generic 3g dongle on this tablet or do I have to use the Archos one. I have a spare Vodaphone sim card and want to use it for data when away but before I go to the expense of buying the dongle, would like to know if it will work. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
There is no much hope for generic 3G dongles, as support come only for a few specific 3G chipsets. Custom firmware normally add support for some Huawei 3G dongles, but I have no confirmation it works. About Archos 3G dongle it should be supported with the default manufacturer firmware, I should be able to test it again next week and confirm it works.
Here a test I did on a 8G2, some time ago.

Here is a quick test of the 3G dongle support (Archos 3G Stick & Huawei E176G) on the new Archos 97 Carbon, which should have very similar hardware support to the Arnova 9 G2 (ICS firmware only).

thanks for this info, but I'd like to know if we have any info about where to find a list of hardware drivers included on the firm.

I use g2 (the old one) with ics custom firm with googleplay (from this web). Next week I'll have a vodafone usb for testing (a friend will lend it me). I'll report here if it  luckly works (or not).

hi there!!
After three days of hacking, googling, testing I've my K3570-z (ZTE) working on Arnova G9 with your custom firm.
Initially the 3g usb modem was not even recognized by the tablet. I had to:
- rip off the mass-storage part of the device using terminal communication (linux desktop) with AT-commands
- no PIN on SIM
- install PPPWidget from  http://www.draisberghof.de/android/pppwidget.html (Thanks for this app)
- you need Superuser app installed also (already installed with this rom) to give auth to the widget
- I had to manually select the device (not initially detected) and add APN config. You can do all this stuff from widget config.
Â
The good part is that this widget is not hardware specific, it uses usb_modeswitch. I have to spend more time tweaking some options but IT WORKS!!Â
The most important is PPPWidget http://www.draisberghof.de/android/pppwidget.html

Here a new entry on my blog with full detail

Thanks for the pointer! I can also confirm that the ZTE MF112 works on a rooted 9 G2 using PPPWidget.

yeh i just wanna say here that i got my novatel usb760 3g verizon to work with the previously installed ICS firmware and the PPP widget. it took a few attempts in the confuration page, used the cdma string with no apn and no pin and after several attempts it works perfectly. and yes this is on my arnova 9 G2
