Yes, the App storage is a big problem and I haven´t find out how to root it too. Would be great if there would be anyone out there who has an idea how to root that. Strange that the tablet suggests to put apps to the Sd and then it doesn´t work.

Here is a custom firmware for the Arnova 8b G3:http://www.arctablet.com/users/arctablet/opinions-on-teclast-p90hdst/kasty-arn8bg3-40-42b.zipIt was made a while ago, but never released as I did not get enough feedback from the tests. Please let me know how it goes, it should be similar in feature to the one for Arnova 8 G3.Cheers.

Would appreciate if you could clarify the following questions:

- Could you specifically indicate how to install the firmware confirming which tablet folder should unzipped .img file be copied onto?

- Is there anything else to be done to start installing?

- Would Arnova 8 G3 firmware from Archtools work for my Arnova 8b G3 instead of provided custom firmware?

- Have you an estimate date for the Arnova 8B G3 firmware release through Archtools including solution to Apps storage problem?.

Apologies if some of my questions have been already answered, thanks and regards

You can flash that firmware using rockchip tools.
You need to get the tablet in a flashing mode, i don`t know exactly which is the procedure for this model.
You will have to use restore, not upgrade when you flash the tablet.

You can find more info regarding flashing and how to get the tablet in the flashing mode here.

Thanks. Would be grateful if you could inform me about the risk of flasing the firmware and kindly confirm whether Arnova 8 G3 official firmware is also valid for Arnova 8b G3. Sorry, I am a new comer. Thx and regards.

the firmware from the 8 g3 is not compatible with the 8bg3 tablet
there is a risk in any flashing method.

I'll soon rework the 8b G3 rooted custom, it will provide 2 GB of storage space for apps.

What do you think how long it will take. about a call date.
thanks in advance

I do not know what is the policy of Arnova when is about releasing a firmware or not. You can ask them why they did no released the firmware for the 8 G3

Could you please specify what the risk of flashing may be and confirm if Arnova 8b G2 custom firmware in Archtools and official firmware could both be used for Arnova 8b G3?. Thanks

Hello,

I want to install the firmware which is offered in topic #3 as zip file. But I have only two possibilties:
1) download to my computer to unzip it for transfering to the tablet ==> I checked all possibilities but I can't transfer the file from my PC (Windows XP rel5) to the tablet

2) download to the tablet directly==> tablet doesn't acept the zipped file

Is it possible to get the file unzipped!!!

Thanks a lot Mario (from Germany)

Hello, that firmware is intended to be flashed with the rockchip flashing tool.
Use winrar to unpack the image from the archive.
Get the tablet in flashing mode and then flash the firmware using the restore option.

Read also post 48 for more guidance.

@globula_neagra You are always posting about the rockchip flashing tool. Didn't you see, that we are in the ARNOVA 8b G3 thread? None of the ways to get this in the flashing mode works. So this isn't useful.

@mwws I will send you a pm in german.
