I just upgraded my new tablet and some points :
- The upgrade works correctly using the copy method.
- No instructions how to get the tablet in recovery mode ( tried all, none worked )
EDIT : Instructions now in another post in this section
- Flash seems to work on and off, i.e., if you open a stream it works then the next one don't, you need to reboot for each new stream you want to see ( Can this be corrected, and if so how to )
EDIT : Do not, I repeat do not, upgrade the flash version that already comes inside. I did and that is why the flash on/off. The one included is the best in results and stability. Also, use the included Internet Navigator. I tested with Firefox, for example, and it is too slow.
Otherwise everything seems, at the moment, to go smooth.
hi the copy method could you explain i have download the filer but when i drag and drop to arnova it shows the no entry symbol and want copy to system???
1 - Unzip the file you downloaded to some folder in your PC ( could be desktop ). You should get a file named update.img
2 - Power on your tablet. After the full boot connect it to your PC via the supplied USB cable
3 - Open the drive letter you just got from the connection
4 - Copy the update.img file to the root of your tablet ( i.e. to the base folder )
5 - Disconnect the USB cable
Now, if everything was OK the tablet should ask say that it found a update image and ask you if you want to upgrade the system.
Say YES and just follow the on screen instructions.
Hope this was helpful,

Hello and Merry Christmas to everybody.
i just bought an Arnova 8b g3 for my son for Christmas and I just realized that the apps storage space is only 512 MB out of a total of 5.9 GB effective storage space (nominal 8 GB).
As he will be mainly using the tablet to run applications, rather than anything else, that is a real problem.
I would like to ask if I installing the custom firmware, would increase the storage space allocated to applications, or if there is an alternative of doing so.
Info on my device: model Nr AN8BG3, Android version: 4.0.3, Kernel: 3.0.8+
Thanks in advance for the help and Merry Christmas to everybody.
antonis06, our first custom firmware (link here) was a test version and did not include (if I recall right) extended space for application. An update with 2 Gb space for application should be released soon, it will be announced and published in this forum.
Merry Christmas, cheers.

I connected by Arnova 8b G3 to my Windows 7 PC via USB cable to copy the firmware image file.
But on my machine I see the device as mobile device but cannot write to any folder of the ARNOVA device or the "Internal Storage" or the "SD Card".
What did I wrong? I'm a newby on the android platform and could not find any seeting on the device itself to gain the write access.
Best regards and many thanks in advice.
When you connect the tablet to the pc, you will see on the tablet in the notification area the sign from an usb and also the name “USB connected”, click on that, then click on “Turn on USB storage”, and you should be able to copy the firmware on your tablet.
I have the android version 4.0.3 installed.
But I don't see the info about "USB connected" and "select to copy...". I see (translated from German) "connected as multimedia device" and "select for more furthure USB options" where I can just choose between the MTP or PTP.
I tried to make some screenshots for you but was not able. Looks not easy on that device. The typical key shortcuts are not working.
ok, but when your tablet is connected as mtp, a device should appear in my computer, click on it, and there should appear the internal space from the arnova`s tablet.
That's true, I see the space and can also read the data.
But I cannot paste files into it. Drag&Drop and also Copy&Paste are disabled and I don't see a drive letter for the USB device created. It is just visible as mobile device.
But I'm able to add new folders on it. Never seen such behavior of Windows Explorer.
If you want i can have a look via team viewer, send me a password and id on a private messsage
To connect a LINUX machine use jmtpfs...!
