Hello,
I just buy a Arnova 8b G3.
Does this custom firmware support it ?
I have another question... I buyed this Arnova 8b G3 for my wife who is thai..
In the shop where I buyed I saw that thai language was available and it was the reason why I choose this model
but it's impossible to type thai character.
Even if I choose thai as default language , I don't have thai keyboard input available.
So I have thai ICS interface but it's impossible to enter thai letter via the keyboard.
Does anyone know what to do ?
Does an firmware upgrade ( to the latest firmare from arnova website or the custom firmaware ) will solve my problem ?
Thanks a lot
We currently have no custom firmware for the Arnova 8b G3, we should be able to make one once Arnova published their 8b G3 firmware on their site (we can hardly know when) or someone makes a firmware dump (we may be able help, please read here).
As for Thai support, I've tested switching to an Asian language, I have no idea which, and I see there is still a "western" keyboard while the rest of the OS has switched. There are a few Thai keyboards on Google Play that should do the job for you:
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=thai+keyboard
Go Keyboard is one of them that seem quite nice.

I am trying to do a firmware dump for this tablet still not managing properly yet. New to this so not the best in the world so far
Any guidance would be great, tried to make own INF file but doesnt seem to want it. Also cant seem to get into a recovery mode
Andy
If you've got a Linux machine running, here are the instructions for the firmware dump: http://www.arctablet.com/blog/forum/firmware-development/dumping-firmware-on-arnova-g2-arnova-g3-and-other-rockchip-based-tablets/
You can refer to our Rockchip Flashing tool page to get some pointers on how to put your tablet in flash mode, it may require some trial and error as the 8b G3 is not listed on our pages.
Cheers.

I have been told that there is no current updated firmware out at the moment. Arnova has not released a firmware yet Im trying to get a dump done which I am close too doing now
Arnova is very slow to release their own firmwares (and I'm not even talking about updates). Some devices did not even get one published (Arnova 9 G2 for instance). Making a dump would really help to get Google Play on this machine, thanks for your help.
Cheers.

Ok I will have to try and figure that out now then. Got an old 32bit Linux laptop runing Ubunto and when i tried the perl script it didnt work also cant seem to figure a way to ge it into a firmware recovery mode. tried all permutations so far
I will carry on trying though
Any thoughts on why the scripts not working as Linux is a second operating system too me
Thanks for your assistance 🙂 its much appreciated

The binary from our package is made for 64 bits systems, it won't work on 32 bits machines.
I'll see if I can access a 32 bits machine to build a specific version for this architecture or you can build the rkflashtool binary by yourself, after you have installed libusb:
gcc -o rkflashtool rkflashtool.c -lusb-1.0 -O2 -W -Wall -s

Thanks Admin
I decided to install latest Ubuntu onto my 64bit laptop and after 2 hours of trial and error I now have a full image from an Arnova 8b G3
Will now have to find somewhere to upload it too. For use.
I hope this is of some use
Btw I do not require a Thai support as im in the UK. If that has any bearing
